You what my advice is: when Picard airs watch 2 or 3 episodes. If you like it, terrific! If you don't but are willing to keep watching to see if it might get better, good for you! But if you hate it, then stop watching, cancel CBS All Access or Netflix, and get a life. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

The whole problem with CBS all access is that considering it's limited content compared to other providers is that CBS began far too late with it's own streaming service and has to fight competition with other providers who are able to supply a far bigger and more varied content ,plus another problem is that it only serves a domestic market neglecting the overseas market and leaving it to other streaming services for international distribution and considering that a large part of the profit of movies like ST09 AND STID came from the overseas market. Also what CBS basically did was that they stole the idea of All Access from the popularity of the crowdfunding of the Axenar project (CBS is basically doing the same subscribers fee is used to fund DISC and Picard having to invest a minimum amount of money themselves since they split production costs between subscribers and Nefflix(hence why Netflix was so pissed off )and now Amazon Prime (Amazon at least learned from the mistakes Netflix made and demanded a script and premise rewrite of the Picard show when they were shown and were not satisfied with what CBS wanted hence the one month delay).I do hope the show is good and I hope that some broadcasting corporation picks up the show because I won't exchange my subscription from Netflix to Amazon Prime (or take another streaming service) and I think many Trek fans overseas with me.It also occurred to me that CBS/NETFLIX/Amazon have to pay additional cost for foreign language dubbing back in the days of syndication the foreign broadcasting networks would do these and pay for them themselves. We in the Netherlands are rather the exception to the rule that we don't dub most of our foreign programs(apart from some children's programs)and use subtitles but 80-90 % of Europe still watches their foreign programs dubbed in their native language

Yeah it's not only malls but most city centers here in the Netherlands become like desolated ghost towns where one hardly sees people even on a Saturday when the streets in the center of town used to be packed with people but I guess that is progress ,I miss the times when was able to go downtown to go to the record store and one would spend two hours there listening to new music and buying some CD's and DVD'S on-line maybe convenient but I miss that whole ritual

And when one has a complaint one gets someone from a customer service call center in India

Probably it seems like all costumer call services are in India nowadays and no they speak English and globalization sucks and is an unworkable concept .And it seems like Hollywood has no creativity it is clinically dead and gone in a decade if it doesn't change very quickly there already are signs of franchise, remake and sequel fatigue and nowadays not every comic book hero movie is a success. If you want something original and new I'm sorry to say one is far likely to find it on streaming services like Netflix and HBO

No matter HOW GOOD the show is, the FACT still remains that they DO NOT HAVE EVEN HALF as many SUBSCRIBERS as they wanted to have by 2020 which is now only just 5 MONTHS away.

What is your source for this?

@Invidia said:

I think one of the video links NEX posted talked about it, but can't recall which one.

As those vids also made a lot of other claims that have yet to be proven (Alex Kurtzman getting the sack, for one) I'm not prepared to take them as valid sources.

Meanwhile, here's another link that explains the GOAL for 2020 is 8 MILLION AND they weren't even HALF WAY there yet when the article was written

How Well CBS' All Access Streaming Service Is Doing With …

https://www.cinemablend.com/television/1691499/how-well-cbs-all-access-streaming...

How Well CBS' All Access Streaming Service Is Doing With Customers. CBS All Access and the standalone Showtime service are both "poised" to exceed a total of 4 million subscribers by the end of 2017. CBS' goal is to reach 8 million total OTT subscribers among its platforms by 2020, so the broadcast company is almost halfway there at this point.

Being "POISED to exceed" doesn't mean you've achieved 4 MILLION yet.

So with a GOAL of 8 MILLION, they weren't even HALF WAY there yet.

So a 2 year old article that says they're 1/2 way there after the launch of their first "proper" show means that with over a year still to go they've got no chance?

What seems CLEAR ENOUGH is someone's been MANIPULATING the NUMBER of SUBSCRIBERS by using the COMBINATION with the other SERVICE.

I've been keeping track of other shows and I've noticed that the way viewer's ratings (figures) are determined have changed.

This is an example.

Those are just the Overnight TV ratings.

To get the total ratings, at least two other figures or added later: Consolidated TV ratings and Live Plus.

Those latter figures are sensitive to manipulations.

This is an example in the UK. In other countries, e.g. USA, they might do it differently.

One can expect that the streaming services will also have their own method of calculating the numbers and present it in a (for them) as positive as possible way.

Side note:

Overnight TV ratings only include those who watched it live and those who recorded and watched it later that night.

Consolidated TV ratings includes those who recorded and watched within a week, making them a more accurate measure of how many were watching.

Live Plus counts those who watched live and all repeats, including iPlayer, within X days following broadcast.

Audience Appreciation Index is a score out of 100 which is used as an indicator of the public’s appreciation for a show. Over 90 is considered exceptional, 85 or over is excellent, 60 or less is poor, and less than 55 is very poor.

CBS projects that by 2022 All Access together with Showtime will have 25 million subscribers. That is what they say.

No they still have a CHANCE to reach the GOAL they've set, but they don't have a YEAR LEFT to reach it because there's only 5 MONTHS LEFT now before it's 2020.

My bad! Must not have had my maths head on!

I'm still not convinced by the journalistic integrity of angry young men on YouTube, though.

The same thing can be said about what the head office of CBS claims, who have been proven to be untrustworthy over last couple of years

Netflix also has another advantage over Amazon, they also co-produce series and movies that were made for the local market they have Polish,German,Dutch,Spanish,Japanese,Italian,Mexican and French co-produced series and movies which is more appealing to these foreign markets and is something which Amazon or other providers don't have. Also according to a fairly recent consumer test done by the Dutch consumer office(this is an independent organisation) Netflix despite it's slightly more expensive monthly fee is stil the better choice since it offers a more diverse content and the overall quality of their self produced content is much higher than that of other providers .

I don 't watch Netflix on-line I watch it via my Blu Ray player and I have no problems with the connection,I've got an unlimited data and 300 Mb/s optical internet connection and home internet telephone (on which I can call for free after 7 pm and during the weekend) over 100 tv channels about 50% in HD and with dolby digital 5.1 sound and four channels of a movie service (called Film 1 which is part of Canal +) that broadcasts very recent films and Netflix

My Blu-ray plays CD,DVD,SACD AND BRD and no I have a menu in which you find sub menu's for settings, photo archive, music archive, film and on-line(with a browser) all these sub menu's can also connect with internet and your computer plus it has pre programmed "apps" and under the film submenu one find a Netflix icon one presses enter and then your user icon and one is in the selection menu and search menu one chooses the movie or series press enter and press enter to play(or one get into a menu so one can choose specific episodes) and the movie is uploaded and starts that's it no parcel and post like watching YouTube videos on line the rest of the controls work like a dvd player(pause, stop ffw,rw time played/remain,sound and image options and no commercials) .

No it's a blu ray player that like your dvd player can dvd and various types of cd and Super Audio cd (multi channel music reproduction ,while your cd only has information to play music in 2 channels (stereo) Super audio cd can play cd's that have 5.1 or 6 channel music sound just like movies so (center speaker ,left front speaker, right front speaker, left surround speaker back, right surround speaker back and subwoofer). The storage capacity of blu ray is much higher than that of DVD which enables HD/3D/HD 4k image and up to 10 channels of sound (dolby 9.1,Atmos,DTS-HD) and other options.
