Hello,

There is something planned for traking the new diffusion of One Piece Log: Fish-Man Island Saga, until Egghead will return in 2025 spring ?

Thx

Coming here after One Piece Fishermen TV listing was deleted. Sucks to see my contributions get deleted for dumb reasons. I seriously suggest mods to take a hard look at their rules and correctly implement them as they are extremely flimsy.

If the same rules can be interpreted differently for different shows, then don't have rules in the first place. Why is DB Kai allowed when fishermen isnt?

One Piece episodes have continuous numbering "ie S22E1066". - Why isn't this followed for other anime series that does this too? (Naruto, Gintama, etc. New Season resets episode numbering to 1)

Why was Bleach TYBW deleted? Because it was already incorporated into the main show? Well the creators and everything suggests that it is a brand new show with completely separate episode numbering.

Why is TYBW considered as a single season? It's marketed and sold as separate seasons. Is it because it's a split cour with continuous episode numbering?

Then here's a question. Why does the listing for Naruto Shippuden exist? Even though it has a different name, it uses continuous episode numbering and is a continuation of the first anime. If Shippuden can be a separate show, well what does that say about Bleach TYBW?

If you can't follow your own rules properly, then at least let us make new show listings that do. That's all we want.

Dragon Ball Z Kai is a complete series re-edit and an approved exception by Travis. One Piece Log: Fish-Man Island Saga is a re-edit of one arc of One Piece and hasn't been approved by Travis. The anime section in the TV Bible clearly says that TMDB generally does not support series re-edits and any entry created will most likely be deleted unless given an exception. The New Content Guidelines also say that any alternative version (including TV entries) added without Travis' approval will be deleted.

Those are older TV entries that haven't been fixed yet. All seasons of Naruto and Gintama, as well as One Piece and Dragon Ball Z Kai, will eventually be merged into a single season by Travis as he's the only one that can automate the merge.

Why was Bleach TYBW deleted? Because it was already incorporated into the main show? Well the creators and everything suggests that it is a brand new show with completely separate episode numbering.

It's a sequel to Bleach: "Sequels series (i.e. a direct continuation of the story) are added within the same entry. When the episodes numbers are continuous, all episodes are added to the same season. When the episode count is restarted (i.e. the first episode is Episode 1), the new episodes are added as a new season."

Why is TYBW considered as a single season? It's marketed and sold as separate seasons. Is it because it's a split cour with continuous episode numbering?

Yes: "When a series is released in two or more parts, the new episodes should also be added to the same season when the episode number are continuous."

Then here's a question. Why does the listing for Naruto Shippuden exist? Even though it has a different name, it uses continuous episode numbering and is a continuation of the first anime. If Shippuden can be a separate show, well what does that say about Bleach TYBW?

It's an older TV entry that hasn't been fixed yet. It will eventually be merged into first and only season of the Naruto entry by Travis as he's the only one that can automate the merge.

We do follow our own rules, it's just that Naruto, Gintama, and One Piece are older TV entries that, from my understanding, were imported like that when TMDB expanded to TV shows. Mods also can't be everywhere at once so unless a mod watches said anime, we rely on users to report wether or not new "seasons" use continuous episode numbers.

@travisbell

How is this really a debate? This show is a complete re-animation of the season completely reworked to fit in a 21 episode format cut down from 62, they didn't just go in and chop up the old animation like DBZ Kai did, it's all be re-animated, it's it's own show. This is absurd.

I can't believe this hasn't been resolved yet. There's new episodes of One Piece airing. They should have a place on TMDB, either in One Piece's Specials, or in their own season, or their own show entry. Why has this been drawn out this long with no responses from mods that actually prioritize addressing the problem, and instead ignore the issue, that the episodes need a home.

This is baffling. This anime is a complete retelling of the Gyojin-tō Hen chapter. Everything (animation, story, etc) has been remade from zero, it is completely brand new. Yes, it is only a chapter of a manga but so was DBZ Kai, only retelling part of the DragonBall manga. There is no logical reason to not give this series it's own entry.

Official Japanese sources also do not included this anime as part of the main TV anime, nor as part of the TV specials: https://one-piece.com/anime/index.html https://one-piece.com/tvspecial/index.html

The anime is referenced as following by all official sources: SPECIAL EDITED VERSION『ONE PIECE』魚人島編 https://x.com/OPcom_info/status/1848237819413905463 Again, referenced as being a completely separate thing from the main anime, being it's own thing, a separate anime series.

Everything, literally everything, points to this needing a separate entry in the TMDB.

Realistically this is the same thing as say, the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure OVA from the 90's, and the 2012 show, one telling the whole story, one covering just one arc.

Not at all similar. The JoJo OVA and the 2012 anime are two separate productions based on the same source material. One Piece Log: Fish-Man Island Saga is not a new production based on the same source material as the anime, it is a re-edit of 62 episodes out of 1122 of the anime.

DBZ Kai is allowed because Travis decided to allow it. DBZ Kai is also a complete re-edit of the entire anime, not just a few episodes, which is, presumably, why Travis decided to allow it.

It is a new production, it's all new animation, new voice over, it's all new, it's a seperate and new production just done by the same company.

It's not a new production as the source material is 62 episodes of the anime. A new production would be the JoJo OVA vs the 2012 anime; both are completely separate adaptations of the same source material.

One Piece Log: Fish-Man Island Saga is simply a re-edit of existing episodes, which means it's an alternative version and not allowed, and will continue to be removed from the database unless Travis OKs it.

How is it not a new production? There's nothing from the original anime in this production, it's NEW, it's newly animated, and newly voiced. You can't re-edit something if you just remake it. If it's not allowed then get rid of DBZ Kai, stop picking and choosing and make a hard rule. Don't leave it up to this arbitrary "if we feel like it" nonsense.

Because the source is the anime that's still airing, not the manga. It's literally called "Special Edited Version - One Piece: Fish-Man Island Saga" in Japanese; it's a "special edited version" of the existing Fish-Man Island Saga episodes.

You can't re-edit something if you just remake it.

One Piece Log: Fish-Man Island Saga is not a remake. When it comes to TV shows and movies, "remake" means that it's an entirely new production based on the same source material and completely unrelated to any adaptation that came before.

One Piece Log: Fish-Man Island Saga is based on 57 episodes of the anime, not the manga, and it uses those 57 episode as the basis for literally everything, so it's an alternative version of something already in the database. That means it's not supported unless Travis OKs it.

If it had been a completely new anime based on the Fish-Man Island Saga chapters of the manga made from scratch without using the existing episodes as a source, that would've been a different story. But that's not what Toei did.

So all that being said, where is it supposed to go? It's episodes of television, of one of the most popular franchises in history. Shouldn't it be added to TMDB? It sure would be nice to have a database containing the titles, descriptions, thumbnails, air dates, etc. of this show!

I agree with ReaperOfBurgers, everything has been redone from scratch

DBZ Kai > recut of existing DBZ TV anime with minimum reworks, covers only PART of the source material (being the manga) = has its own entry One Piece Log: FIsh-man Island > completely new production, covers only part of the source material (being the manga) = 3-page long thread and still no solution.

Wouldn't it be better to have a new anime entry so fans can at least scrape the info of this anime tv series? If and when TMDB figures out a different way to deal with such cases, then you can still remove that entry if you wish so.

The series has stopped airing and we still don't have place to input this data.

In addition to all that's already been said (new drawings, new music, new dubbing, new opening and ending, ...), we can add that the last episode contains the preview of the next episode, making it part of the anime continuity like other special episodes before it (by the way, I've always found it curious that these episodes are considered special when they're broadcast as normal episodes, but anyway, that's not the matter here ).

It's a shame that a “community built movie and TV database” is actually run by only a handful of people. Given the debates on these episodes, there could be a vote or something.
