If you talk about absolute rule, this is from TMDB Bible (https://www.themoviedb.org/bible/new_content) :

Content allowed in TV and movie section

Some content is allowed to exist in both the TV and the movie database. These are:

  • TV movies originally released as part of an umbrella series
  • Episodes of an anthology series that are treated like TV movies (e.g. individual DVD release, theatrical release).
  • TV episodes edited into a proper theatrical movie (e.g. Pippi Longstocking)

I think "into the dark", is clearly one of those... The first episode has always been under the "Into the dark" Umbrella : https://web.archive.org/web/20181006000623/https://www.hulu.com/movie/the-body-41bb4246-8b0d-42de-be12-8db90a0cd500

No, we aren't in one of those cases as these elements have never been officially released as episodes, but only as movies.

They've always been released as

From Blumhouse Television, Into the Dark is a horror series with a new installment released each month.

And with the press link : https://press.hulu.com/shows/into-the-dark/ You just can't say they have never been officially released as episodes... , they are...

The only official pages are the pages were you can actually view the videos, were you have the play button. This is not the case of a press release.

This is the offical picture from wayback machine of the release of the first episode as "Movie"

You can clearly see

Blumhouse Television Presents Into the dark 12 Months. 12 Twisted tales.

So from the first episode, they presented it as a part of a serie of 12 movies "released as part of an umbrella series" which from TMDB Bible can be added as TV.

They just indicate that there will be 12 movies. They never say that they are released as part as an "umbrella series". As long as they are not released as episodes, they couldn't be considered as part of a series.

It is also explicitely indicate on the page that this is a movie. I quote : "Thriller, Horror • Movie • 2018".

Are you sure that is the definition of "official" you want to run with - where the "play" button sits? I feel like this opens up a can of worms that would only backfire.

Again, how is "Episodes of an anthology series that are treated like TV movies (e.g. individual DVD release, theatrical release)." not applicable?
Is this https://www.primevideo.com/detail/Into-the-Dark/0GUSZ8YL7P9I3O2MW71WGPPWP7 not released by Hulu? Is Amazon pirating their stuff? Or AppleTV and other broadcasters?
Aren't they all linked together on Hulu through the "Into The Dark" tab? https://www.hulu.com/movie/midnight-kiss-1025a39a-f965-4a95-87f9-c0fb65840f15?tab=into%20the%20dark

This is the current rule for things originally released on streaming sites.

The original release is the Hulu release. The PrimeVideo and AppleTV release are later release that doesn't count.

This rule would have applied if the series release was the first and the release of the separate movies occur later. This is not the case here.

This is the effective release pages. We follow the way things are released. A page were you can't play the video is not a release page.

So, https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/79242-the-chilling-adventures-of-sabrina has either one or four seasons then, right? Because that is where I see the play button... (eg. https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/79242-the-chilling-adventures-of-sabrina/discuss/5d238b0d15c6364f5bf8f4c2 )

No, because there aren't 4 seasons, but 4 parts, which is not the same.

Sorry but you've pointed out how only the page with the play button is relevant, not the press release or official "homepage" of the series? The Sabrina split is based on press releases/interviews from beforehand - there were even contradicting ones from Netflix. Just pointing out how this doesn't hold up at all. Would be curious to hear what @Travis thinks tbh.
That is in addition to other points you more or less ignored... The bible hasn't been around for aeons so it just feels like you are overly pedantic to make this not match the exception.

Taking in account that the pages didn't directly give us the season split, we needed to go elsewhere to get complete informations.

This is not the case here were each element is clearly listed on a separate movie page.
