Discussão Pantera Negra

This will be the first Marvel film in some years that I will not be seeing OW. I think it's the fact that in every interview the cast talk about "strong black women" and every review talks about how it's "the most culturally important film of all time" and crap like that that I don't care about. Maybe one in ten of the positive reviews actually address aspects of the film that I might care about, like plot, excitement, etc.

Does anyone else feel this way?

Hi everyone. For some unknown reason everytime I get notified that there's a new post on this thread, when I pull it up, the only post I can get is the original post by A to Z and nothing else. Is anyone else having this problem? 🤔

No, but I have noticed that if you click the email link it just takes you to the first post, and so does the Notification Bell unless you are careful to click "view" rather than the main box.

She's probably too stupid to do that.

Ignore the cunt Maria Kelly.

I kinda feel that way too, although I'm not really into superhero movies anyway. But all I want is a good movie, not just good intentions. It reminds me of a pizza place that recently opened up. They took out a full page ad in a local paper and the entire ad went into detail about things like the recycled materials used to build the floors and walls. There was no effort put into persuading me their actual pizza was worthwhile. I'm all for environmentally responsible business practices, but FFS make a good pizza first.

You are literally obsessed man. You've posted about this film so many times you have issues dude. You seem very unhappy about this films existence. You should really take a step back and look at yourself.

No doubt there will be those who do feel as you do.

BUT, the world is a big place, and, CLEARLY, a lot MORE people absolutely DO care about "crap like that", because it is not "crap" to them. And, while you may find this hard to grasp, the privilege you have to not care about "crap like that", in fact, the privilege you have to refer to what is clearly so important to so many people around the world as "crap", is precisely part of WHY it is so important to them. It is tiring living in a world where everything needs to resolve to the point of view that would see these issues as crap. And it is refreshing to see a movie that does tell a story from another point of view that does not devalue what is so important to other people.

As for me and the movie itself, I saw it, and could understand arguments that it is the best Marvel movie of all. It may not be, but the position is defendable, it's that good a movie. However, notwithstanding the immateriality of whether it is or isn't the best Marvel movie of all, it now IS, in point of fact, the highest grossing Marvel movie of all time, and it could very well be my favourite.

Movies that adhere to old stereotypes have to be endured by all the people who appreciate the symbolism and representation that Black Panther offers. So, it should not be asking much for those who would prefer the old stereotypes to endure the rest of the world getting to enjoy a different view.

The gross inconvenience you are experiencing in the wake of this movie's overwhelming success pales in comparison to the lifetime of inconvenience the rest of the world experiences with 95% of the movies that are pushed at them the rest of the time.

Except that Black Panther is a good movie. Forget hype, forget box office - just story-wise, it may be the best marvel movie of all time. I'm not saying it is, but I'm saying the argument is defendable enough that, even if it isn't, it is well beyond average. It is a good movie. Getting beyond all the other stuff to just go enjoy the movie is up to you.

@Renovatio: 😄: The minute I saw the casino set, I thought of Skyfall too! I kept waiting for the Komodo Dragons too show up!

Haha... I know, had the same feeling, especially as that where they meet the CIA guy...

I liked the way that sequence was shot, without cuts every few seconds... It was a nice moment, even though I thought it was an average movie...

I wouldn't mind watching Boseman play an american spy in a new thiller/espionage movie... I think he could pull it off... But not as Bond, obviously...

Why obviously? You're a racist.

No, because he's an American!

An American can't play a British person? Then what about Idris Elba? I heard talk of him playing James Bond once upon a time.

Most Americans do a very bad job of Bnglish accents, though there have been great improvements of late (mainly with the "posh" British accent). Possibly due to all those Brits working in Hollywood. Like Idris.

Yes, but his accent isn't really posh. It's pretty rugged.

Yep he has a London accent, and it's good because it's where he comes from.

Meh. It was okay, Not NEARLY as racist as Black Lightning.

I don't think you know what "racist" actually means.

700 million dollars in the box office.

I think the OP was not missed.

I'm impressed that you can make an assessment of me like that after reading seven words that I wrote. On that note, have you considered maybe you don't know?

Why was Black Lighting "racist"?
