Discuter de Snowpiercer

I found it much better than the ratings would suggest. The story is an excellent political allegory that can be interpreted in numerous ways, even if it wasn't originally intended as such.

Definitely, one of the most underrated movies and the reason why I take ratings with a grain of salt.

it's for sure enjoyable movie I might even consider to rewatch, but it's not really memorable with some stunning impression, so i guess any rating just slightly above average is fair

Ostensibly it's just a couple of people taking a walk from the back to the front of the train against the will of the ticket inspectors but under the hood is a great study on the inner workings of a political system that is superficially unshakable yet vulnerable to a black swan event as the detachment of the elites, the sycophancy of the courtiers, and the desperation of the underclass all build up to become its demise. However, as soon as the revolutionaries prevail, instead of rejoicing we have to face the unpalatable reality that the populist movement supposedly in pursuit of lofty goals ends up being only about replacing the old elite with a new set. All that is left for the idealist then is the emergency brake of anarchism, the choice of which represents either the ultimate humanity or the ultimate stupidity, and that is left to the viewer's interpretation.

Snowpiercer's strength is that it doesn't impose any judgment upon us: it presents a case both for and against revolution, pro-anarchy and pro-hierarchy, and leaves it all for us to decide.

@Papshmir good write up, I agree with the train being used as an allegory between the political and social classes. Such a creative and thought provoking film.

I am a big fan of South Korean cinema, I think their films are much more inventive than Hollywood right now. The director and writer of Snowpiercer, Bong Joon-Ho other films The Host, Mother and especially Memories of Murder are also really good.

The actor that played Namgoong, Song Kang-Ho is one of my favorites also.

It's so good. I watched it first while overseas and all of the political references and discussions were cut! It was just a good action movie.

When I came back home and saw it properly I was blown away. I agree, what's really good about the movie is that it doesn't tell you how or what to think... It just leaves the viewer to wrestle with the ideas... This is what good art does...
