Item: Battlestar Galactica: The Plan
Language: en-US
Type of Problem: Design_issue
Extra Details: What is the benefit of having this listed as a movie vs as a special under the TV show? I think it works better if this is listed as a special under the show. It's directly tied to BSG and would be easer for people to find and track if it was listed as part of that show.

Close, but that's only for TV series. Here: https://www.themoviedb.org/bible/tv/59f73eb49251416e71000026#59f7445c9251416e71000039

Can this be changed to a TV Show (Special) of BSG, please. It is not a Movie and being listed as a Movie means Zappiti devices (and similar) can't find it. I would wager 99/100 people would file this under BSG in TV Shows on a NAS or similar, not under Movies. As such it can't be played by such streaming devices. Please consider either duplicating this listing as a TV show under BSG, or moving it to TV show special under TV shows. It is a real nuisance left here under Movies. Here is the Wikipedia entry: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battlestar_Galactica_(2004_TV_series) The Plan was released on TV January 10, 2010: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Battlestar_Galactica_(2004_TV_series)_episodes#The_Plan_(2009) It was certainly aired on TV, not at any Cinema. Thank you

As you can read here, it premiere on Blu-Ray, DVD and Digital Download on October 2009. As such, this is a movie and not a TV episode and it should be listed in the movies part of our database. It was only released on TV much later on January 2010.

Thanks for your reply, however, I presume to no effect, I disagree. How something is first released should not dictate what it is. This is clearly a TV show and that is how people will look for it, collate it, and expect devices such as Zapitti to list it. I think a good compromise to preserve your approach of how something is first released with the fact that it is indeed a TV show, would be to be able to duplicate the listing. Left as it is by being defined based on how released, will leave people simply unable to find it, display it as part of a TV show (which it is). I believe this is what andcbii meant as well.

This is the main rule of our site. We always list things as they were first released.
