The bad fortune of the Mets was forever changed when pitcher Tom Seaver debuted with New York in 1967. By 1969, even the most cynical New Yorkers believed in the young ace. Sporting a 25-7 record, and with his teammates playing inspired defense behind him, Seaver and the Mets stunned the Baltimore Orioles to win the 1969 World Series.

Coach Sparky Anderson led the Tigers to a record-setting start of the 1984 season culminating with 104 regular season wins, a sweep of the ALCS®, and a World Series win. Jack Morris, Alan Trammell, and Kirk Gibson set the pace as the Tigers became only the third MLB ® club to go wire-to-wire.

It seemed that the Red Sox, after 68 years of hardship, would finally come out on top in 1986. But, in the 10th inning of Game 6, the Mets rallied to tie the score. Everyone knows what happened next.

The LA Dodgers Championship Season

The Oakland A’s Championship Season

No one gave the Reds much of a chance against the Oakland A's. The four-game sweep everyone had predicted had, in fact, taken place. But it was Cincinnati, in one of baseball's all-time World Series upsets, who did the sweeping.

It was the story of two last-place baseball teams who, one year later, found themselves playing in perhaps the greatest World Series of all time.

In 1992, the Toronto Blue Jays brought their country to its feet and out into the streets with a sense of national pride. But good baseball transcends borders, and this was a World Series for which baseball fans the world over could be proud.

For fans everywhere, the 1993 World Series was a hard-fought, grind-it-out tribute to baseball - a Series as memorable as the heroes and characters who took part in it.

The 1995 World Series featured the two best teams in baseball. The Cleveland Indians won 100 games in a shortened season, and they made it to the World Series for the first time in 41 years. The Atlanta Braves had been here before, twice in the previous four years. With the best pitching staff in baseball, they were called the team of the '90's. Still they needed a World Series Title to claim that crown. This official documentary of the 1995 World Series includes all the dramatic moments of the six-game battle between the Indians and the Braves including: Eddie Murray's game-winning single at frenzied Jacobs Field. Orel Hershiser's gutsy performances against the incredible Greg Maddux. Dave Justice talking the talk...and then walking the walk. Tom Glavine, the series MVP, pitching one-hit baseball under phenomenal pressure.

When they write the story of the 1996 World Series, don't be surprised if they write about the heart of a champion. Like the Atlanta Braves, who year after year return to the fall classic on the strength of the best starting pitchers in baseball. And the New York Yankees--A clever mix of youth and veterans--gritty, resilient, and very likeable. Don't be caught off guard if the heroics of Bernie Williams and Jim Levritz are recanted--or the medical miracle that brought David Cone from the operating room to the most important start of his career. When they write the story of the 1996 World Series, it will tell how the Yankees came to captivate a city by battling back from a two-games-to-none deficit, To win four straight against the defending world champions for its 23rd world title--it's first since 1978.

The five-year-old Florida Marlins combined the wily leadership and manager Jim Leyland with a team built through shrewd draft picks, trades, and talented free agents. They won the National League wild card--then became the first wild card team to reach the World Series by sweeping the Giants and shocking the Braves. The Cleveland Indians were a far different team than the one that battled in the 1995 World Series. This year, nobody expected them to beat the Yankees or the Orioles--but somehow they did. And so, these two underdog warriors slugged it out in the heat and snow of the World Series until they reached that quintessential moment--Game Seven. Even then, it went on--into the 11th inning--the second longest Game Seven in history--before Edgar Renteria sent all of Florida into a state of delirious celebration.

It was the season of their lives. In 1998 Major League Baseball had its greatest year, and more fans in more cities than ever before took in the thrill of big league baseball. But in the end, only one town could claim its place at the top, and only one team could call 1998 its championship season. The 1998 Official Major League Baseball World Series Video takes the fan through the drama of the Playoffs to the most inspired National League Champion San Diego Padres, led by veteran outfield Tony Gwynn and big-game ace Kevin Brown, try to steal history from the powerhouse American League Champion New York Yankees, whose 125 wins in 1998 were a testament to true team greatness. Manager Joe Torre and team leaders Derek Jeter and David Cone fight one final battle in their quest to establish themselves as perhaps the finest group to ever put on the pinstripes.

November 30, 2001

Driven by the tragedy of 9/11, the defending World Champion New York Yankees squared off against the Arizona Diamondbacks in what will be remembered as one of the greatest World Series in history.

It was an all-California World Series - the first ever between two wild card teams - and both the Anaheim Angels and the San Francisco Giants were in search of a dream. The Angels were in the World Series for the first time in their 42-year history. The Giants hadn't won one since they moved to San Francisco in 1958. The result was a Fall Classic that will forever be remembered for one of the most astonishing comebacks in history.

The 2003 Florida Marlins make a manager change mid-way through the season hiring 72 year old Jack McKeon and go on an unbelievable run towards the postseason. After both an exciting NLDS and NLCS the Marlins battle the New York Yankees in the 100th Anniversary of Major League Baseball's World Series.

The World Series DVD is more than 80 minutes of pure, inside baseball action. The battle of the Indians: The Cleveland Indians take on the Boston Braves in the 1948 World Series.

Red Sox Nation rejoiced as its beloved team reached the World Series in dramatic fashion, having just overcome a three-games-to-one deficit in the ALCS by outscoring the Cleveland Indians 30-5 in the final three contests. There they met the sizzling Colorado Rockies -victors in 21 of their last 22 games and just the second team ever to win their first seven in the postseason. But while both teams came into the World Series on fire, only one continued that torrid pace. The Red Sox briskly swept the Rockies aside to capture their second title of the decade and their second straight Fall Classic sweep.

They believed. They wanted it. They overcame a 10.5-game deficit in late August and claimed a playoff berth on the final day of the regular season. They then conquered the Philadelphia Phillies and prevailed against the Milwaukee Brewers. Facing off next against the Texas Rangers, the St. Louis Cardinals fell behind 3-2 in the Fall Classic despite the unprecedented performance of Albert Pujols. But back at Busch Stadium, a Game 6 for the ages unfolded as the Redbirds, who were twice down to their last strike, rallied in both the 9th and 10th innings. Then hometown hero David Freese crushed an all-time walk-off home run in the 11th inning to force a Game 7. In the deciding game, ace Chris Carpenter's steely performance and a clutch two-run double from World Series MVP Freese delivered the franchise's 11th World Series Championship.
