Not sure how well it holds up but it did scare me when I was 13 years old. The quasi zombie townsfolk were freaky and it was surprisingly violent and gory . It also stars Nikki from Y&R when she was young and hot. My favorite scene from what I remember is when the zombies are breaking into that glass first floor office with hooks and scythes in hand. It doesn't end well.

We can keep this going until Halloween. LOL

I believe I've watched every obscure movie you could possible watch from the 80s. The last one discovered that captured the time was Corey Gorey from 2001. However people involved in the small production have commented on imdb it was made over a 4 year period from 89-93. Another cult filmaker I like is JR Bookwater. Skinned Alive is so bad it's good and on 16mm.

I have Skinned Alive, but never heard of the other two. I'll have to think up some more obscure titles just for you!

Oh wow! I love watching SA in late October. If you've never seen it just know you have to be in a mood for a bad movie. Head Cheerleader Dead Cheerleader is a more recent early 2000s scream type ripoff. Debbie Rochone stars as the coach of girl who talks on the phone all evening to the killer and all of her classmates stop by briefly and leave.

Sure, but the idea is obscure movies that SHOULD be watched. In other words, recommendations or at the very least something you enjoyed for a particular reason. About 100 credit card horror movies come out every month (they used to be a big thing here in Central Florida to shoot), but you wouldn't want to watch them all or any of them possibly.

I thought Skinned Alive (1990) was awful. Dead & Buried was very good though.

DOG SOLDIERS (2002)
Written and directed by Neil Marshall (The Descent), this British import is a surprisingly effective werewolf flick set in the countryside of Scotland. One I often recommend to friends. I'm assuming everyone already knows The Descent but if not... OMG. Rent it now. You'll never want to go spelunking again.

I'm not really a fan of horror, the only horror movies I've seen are the 'obvious' ones, Halloween (1978), A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984). I'm actually a fan of classic horror, Dracula, Frankenstein, all the old Universal Pictures stuff, plus the 1950's 'creature feature' type movies, Them, The Creature from the Black Lagoon.
I'm more of a science fiction and fantasy guy myself, so when the genres of horror and science fiction overlap, for example with 'Alien or The Thing, I do like that stuff.

You can also check out Event Horizon and Sunshine for good horror/suspense sci-fi

This was number 1 on some top 10 list of best werewolf movies of all time. I enjoyed the movie but sorry, can't agree about being the best ever.

Is Event Horizon good? I've never seen it, but I've heard that it isn't very good.

It's an odd movie, perhaps allegorical. It's not my favorite film ever, but it's certainly watchable.

FRANKENSTEIN'S ARMY (2013)
Speaking of strange movies, this is something I stumbled across on Netflix at 2 a.m. and found surprisingly good. It starts off meh but once it gets going, it's balls to the wall weirdness with freaky-looking man-made Nazi monsters. It's set during WW2.

Frankenstein's Army was definitely bizarre!
My favorite is Night of the Comet (1984) Starring Catherine Mary Stewart (Days of our Lives) Kelli Maroney (Ryan's Hope) Robert Beltran (Star Trek....Voyager?) Mary Woronov (Cult movie QUEEN)
Low budget but well reviewed 80's movie about two valley girls and the end of the world as we know it.
Trivia: Robert Beltran admits in the recently released blu ray bonus features he did not deserve top billing, it was given to him as an enticement to take the role. This movie belongs to Cathy and Kelli.
This was also the reunion (albeit brief) of Mary and Robert who were amazing in Eating Raoul which while not a horror movie it definitely has a cult following.

I always confuse Night of the Comet with Night of the Creeps (1986) which I have seen. Fun movie.
Eating Raoul was very strange but funny. I believe Dedoc mentioned it before.
