I'm glad to have found this board, and all of you, and the board functions are DECENT, but I still miss IMDb's. I wonder all the time if they have regretted their decision. I agree their boards were a mess, but that was their own fault, and they should have figured out a workable solution.
Though they're for sure saving on bandwidth to keep all of those boards up, I have to imagine they have lost a LOT of site traffic. I deleted all of my stored IMDb pages, and now I don't even have a shortcut link to it. On the rare occasion I want to find out something about an actor/movie/show/etc, and I decide IMDb is the place I want to do that, I type it in the old fashioned way.
Any time I have googled to find out if they have mentioned anything about that decision recently, I only find articles that are a year old when they announced their decision. I can't find any recent feedback at all.
As for this board, my biggest gripe is the way I am notified. I just get a blanket message saying there is a comment on a specific post, and then every single notification after that is identical unless the page number changes, so gmail shortens the email to...nothing. Because it is set up not to show me quoted messages unless I click to expand. So I have taken to deleting every notification that comes in after the first one, so I can click on the link in it. But it's still a hassle.
Also, I'm perplexed by what seems to be an extremely limited availability of emoticons. Am I just missing them?
Lastly, nesting. I hate that all comments go at the very end.
Not trying to bitch, really, just offering up some constructive feedback in case any of them check out the boards.
I do like the "thumbs up" button.

This seems a fine and workable board. On the plus side we lost psychos like Chainsaw Heidi who threatened violence on every third person she engaged with, as well as some sexually screwed up adolescents, and a few other people who infamously tried to stalk certain other posters irl.

True that. For sure. However, I had all of those nutcases on "ignore," so I was only ever assaulted with their nonsense the day after they created a new profile, and that was a quick fix.
I do think the atmosphere here is much more agreeable than it was on IMDb. Not just because the trolls are missing, but even the real posters seem to be getting along better.
Seriously, some of the crazies tried to stalk other posters IRL? From our board?!?! I had no idea.

There’s definitely a lot more pluses on this board. I think every thread is saved back to last February when we first started posting. There is no administrator deleting half of the posts, anything goes as far as what you can say. I find the bell is enough to alert me of new responses to threads I’ve posted in. I was buried in emails about this site and quickly turned that feature off.

I'm pretty sure the reason why the IMDB boards were shut down was all the trolling. IMDB is supposed to be an Amazon storefront to sell movies, and yet, on any board, 90% or more of the comments on opening weekend were 'this is the worst movie ever!' I think the studios just got sick of it.

I'm thinking of doing exactly that. Just leave one page up, and click on the red bell when it's lit. Because the email notification system is going to make me crazy!

I assumed it was because of the trolling, but their system for shutting down trolls was shockingly lacking in this day and age. The reason I never posted back then about having trolls on ignore was because I didn't want THEM to report MY posts, because I recall other good posters complaining about being on notice from IMDb. Yet the real trolls somehow managed to stay up for insane lengths of time.

What system? Deleting pages of threads? People were being doxxed in The Walking Dead board. That place was turning into 4chan.

I honestly don't know what half the words mean that you just said! Doxxed, 4chan? Okay, I guess just 2 words! But I don't know the meaning of your sentences without them!

Don't we all miss Amyward? (no idea if I'm spelling that right, but those who know who I'm talking about know who I'm talking about. haha)

"People were publishing private or identifying information about a particular individual on the Internet, typically with malicious intent in The Walking Dead board. That place was turning into a popular message board where people (as Anonymous) would attack others in real life."

Damn- I'm pulling a Mike Corbin- what was the name of that nut that stalked the older fellow, DJfan? He claimed to be an investigative journalist. I basically ripped him every time until he was sent to a rubber room- Dedoc? What was that guy's name?

Ah, yes! As in Todd Manning. I wonder if it was he who broke the Russian Connection? LOL!

I just remember that he was paranoid that we were watching him through his camera on his computer. Someone joked that TM had his hand in his pants and he freaked out and was like "How did you know?" Here's a clip of him: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=btXmzToD3W4
