But there isn't a season/series 2.

That's what @wonder means - that watch the cliffhanger end of this and you'll wind up frustrated in the knowledge that you're never gonna eventually find out "what happens next". (Having said that, one never knows, and perhaps there's some glimmer of possibility that PBS could decide to order a S2 - though if so it presumably wouldn't be a co-production with ITV as that network wasn't satisfied enough with UK viewer numbers last year to renew.)
Btw, I've been recording both of tonight's 2 PBS Masterpiece shows (this and Grantchester) to watch in an hour, two, or so.

I'm watching episode 5 of both tomorrow but I have to say I'm not happy with either series.

I've enjoyed both series this season - pleasant diversion summertime Sunday night viewing.
I haven't yet heard/seen what PBS will be airing the next 2 or 3 Sunday nights, before Endeavour begins in early August. Btw, the promos for that look like it'll be really good! (Short season though - only 3 episodes.)

According to the TV site I use, they are showing season 6 of Endeavour (4 episodes).

That's good to know. I doubt I'll re-watch the entire S6, but am pretty sure I'll at least re-watch its riveting season finale.
