Discuss Star Trek: Discovery

Her character is too overpowering. Since when has Star Trek been about one person. She has to be in almost every scene and every conversation, making every decision. Pike and Saru act like emasculated puppies without her. Star Trek has always been about developing its characters. There are others on the bridge we know nothing about because Burnham is being constantly shoved down our throats.

There have been 2 great moments in season 3:

  1. Episode 2, because she wasn't in it.
  2. Episode 4, because we got to see characters interact on the ship without her in the way.

This show is nothing more than a somewhat interesting Sci-Fi-fi flick. It's definitely not Star Trek. Thumbs down to CBS for messing up the Star Trek universe with a show like this.

P.S. It would be nice to watch an episode without someone effing crying.

No because this is a thread about too much Burnham which most of us here happen too agree upon. And the reason must of like Pike is because he wasn't acting like an insufferable ,disrespectful, mutinous, emotionally unstable know it all like Burnham who for some reasons the writers and producers of this show seem to think we need to aspire to.

The very title of this thread betrays the sexism and racism. We will never hear of "too much James Bond" or even "too much Picard". What are you white boys soooo scared of?Of course Nexus71 doesn't realise that ALL the adjectives he used to describe Burnham could be used to describe Kirk in much of ST. Did you know Pike never wanted women on the bridge of the Enterprise and actually said so? The same qualities you find admirable in some you somehow cannot stand in others....textbook RACISM and SEXISM!

You should buy a new dictionary and look up sexism and racism because all of the things I mention are all about character traits which have nothing to do with race or gender whatsoever. If Michael Burnham was played by a white male these character traits would still be relevant and we still wouldn't like the character if he were played in the same manner. As how any of the mentioned character traits apply to Kirk is beyond me ,I either doubt you have actually seen TOS or the original movies otherwise provide examples for each character traits otherwise that argument has no basis in fact.

And take a Xanax and get help you seriously have issues

You're not too bright. You just assume I'm white? Or that I may not like women? You comparing James Bond to this is an extremely poor analogy. HE is the main character. His movies center around him getting the job done. Star Trek is not based on the premise that one person is the star. I hope I don't need to explain what that means.

What? NO clan rallies to attend? Knixon given up his MISEGENATION posts/lectures? His hero is about to be dragged out of our White House and he is not happy I guess...lol. THE WORLD is about to turn on you cretins! The END is nigh

I've finally understood why some 'toxic fans' dislike DSC Actually it is not true dislike, it more a mixture of envy/jealousy and fear. True dislike would have elicited solid reasons by now.
To the mainly white male TF's however, MB has touch a historic nerve and awakens a archetype of the black female they have long feared That's the root cause of her hatred. She is younger, smarter, stronger and bolder than TOS Kirk, Picard, Janeway and Archer

@Thespear said THIS TOO:

Incoherent diatribes, such these, offer great insight into the limited worldview of the Drekkie.

Time and again, these fanatical fans of STD go off the rails while making apologies for their subpar Trek. At the drop of a hat, they'll hurl wild accusations of for example racism, sexism and homophobia as "proof" that any and all criticism of STD isn't valid.

As though Kurtzman's dystopian garbage is the victim of a white supremacist conspiracy against the GOAT Michael Burnham.

This so-called "evidence" always leaves out such inconvenient things as

  1. Uhura, Geordi, Ben Sisko, Jake Sisko and Travis Mayweather being beloved characters decades before STD
  2. Star Trek being about groups of humans exploring space together in unity ever since the pilot of TOS
  3. STD's writers have sabotaged Burnham since Day 1 by making her an uptight, self-righteous, hypocritical controlfreak who'll betray your a$$ if you stand in her way

It's ironic these "openminded and progressive" Drekkies, who sooner or later always bring up the cult of Trump, fail to realize they themselves are part of the Borg-like cult of STD. Where if you think critically as an individual, instead of drinking Kurtzman's corporate Kool-Aid like a fellow drone, you're the enemy.

No, it's called being a fan of Gene Roddenberry's Star Trek but then I don't expect people with a simplistic, black and white worldview to understand the reality of nuances

What does Trumpism have anything to do with how horrible this show is and for that matter all of the Kurtzman garbage, personally I found Trump a total tool but I can see garbage when I see it.

Nothing aside from it being one of Drekkies go-to excuses to "prove" criticism of STD isn't valid

Funny how they bring up Trump even when one isn't from the US or a fan of Trump.

Further proof STD fandom is like a cult. Facts like geographical location or logic don't matter to them.

STD must be defended at any cost, even if it makes them appear foolish and desperate

Yeah like claiming it's the most watched show on World wide streaming rofl

Exactly I am from Canada and I think Trump is an actual tool but if a show looks smells and sounds like garbage guess what.

It's a duck ? duck
