In the aftermath of the fall, Madeline finds out that Bonnie had an abusive father and seeing Perry's violence brought back bad memories. Everybody on the balcony decides to lie to protect her. Still, Bonnie turns herself in but is only sentenced to 200 hours of community service. A year after Perry's death, Celeste works in a family law firm and sets up a fund to support Ziggy. She speaks publicly about her abusive relationship, starting her speech with:

"This can happen to anyone."

Maybe if they do a season 2 this can still happen.

If they'd also included scenes like these in the ending, instead of ending with someone with binoculars spying on them at the beach, that would have been better and given us more closure than leaving it up in the air as to whether or not Bonnie will be punished for his death or not.

If there is no season 2 then this is closure - one can believe no charges, happily ever after. If season 2, then those things can be addressed.

The one cop told the other one to drop it, but apparently that didn't happen with those Binoculars we see watching them all at the funeral and while they're all there at the ocean.

This also would be a great lead in for a season 2.

I figured Bonnie must have experienced something because she was so alerted and followed them, Glad she did because Perry would have killed every last one of them. I was so angry the way he was beating ALL of them up. You were right Invidia thumbsup_tone2 Perry was Jane's rapist. I loved the realizations on all of their faces. Glad all of the women ended as friends with all of the children together.
I thought great show, great ending two_hearts I was glad Tom and Jane got together. To answer my question I asked previously- the caution tape was already on the stairs before the murder. Soo glad it was Perry that was killed, If Renata hadn't come to the car window Perry would have killed Celeste right then and there. Poor Celeste finding out all in one day that your child is an abuser and your abusive husband is also a rapist. Seems like the only good guy may possibly have been Tom and we really didn't get a chance to find out much about him. ...and I still believe Ed had been creepy with Abigail. Loved Ituana's version of You Can't Always Get What You Want it fitted the finale and episode title perfectly.

It's satisfying to see Perry dead. I do wish HBO had stuck to the book instead of leaving the door open for a sequel, I prefer the ending summarized in Wikipedia (thanks Invidia!) How much of the truth are the residents being interviewed aware of? Because they are incredibly catty and judgemental. They know Bonnie pushed Perry, but do they know about Jane and Perry? Do they know that Max is the bully? They're very callous if they do. If you found out your son was choking, biting and had pushed a little girl down a flight of stairs, would you embrace him and tell him what a good boy he is? I know Max was mimicking his dad, but I don't think I'd hug him and tell him he's a good boy. I'd tell him how much I loved him, and how brave he was for admitting the truth, but good boys don't choke other children. And that I was leaving his daddy because of that type of behavior. And then, off to the analyst, because I would need guidance.

The finale was was brilliantly done!!!! Omg the scene when all the women look at each other and all realize it's him omg!! I had chills and it was left with possibility of season 2. Amazing show and so glad they ended it so well

Looked like maybe Celeste was too busy getting Beaten Up again to notice how Jane realized who Perry was? Maddy saw the look on her face and realized it. But did Celeste?

:Hi: wave_tone2 Invidia

Yes Celeste realized it. Madeline threw the look of realization to Celeste and Celeste's face dawned with it too- that was one of my favorite scenes- when they all realized it was Perry, and when Perry realized they all knew that's when he charged. This was the first time I have ever hated Alexander Skarsgard in anything-Great acting job Alex!

(OT/sidenote: Alexander's brother Bill will be playing Pennywise the clown in a remake of Stephen Kings IT coming to theaters in September.)

Good thing she had a shrink who was willing to break the Ethical Code or else Celeste may also have still been in denial when Perry's killed and not have taken Bonnie's side? If she'd still also not accepted what a monster she married, she may have also treated Bonnie the same way as Renata did Jane and Ziggy?

Yes I was so glad all the women came together and did not doubt or blame.

It might have been difficult to sell her virginity on the internet if she wasn't still a virgin. Because whoever bid the highest bid for it may also have insisted upon a doctor's exam as a way to guarantee they were getting what they'd paid for?

As I have said before- I am not saying that ED and Abigail had sex- no. I just think that he may have said something inappropriate or even made a pass at her.

Which is why I still like the other original version of it that was used in the start of another film called THE BIG CHILL ...

I have seen The Big Chill. I've always liked the song, but the soft and hauntingly sad version in the finale is just beautiful to me.

I may watch it again just for that reason alone.

The catty and judgmental residents do not know about Bonnie's push because Celeste's and the others story to police was Perry tripped and fell backwards while trying to beat Celeste. Bonnie's actions are a secret only they know. The finale only showed the women (and Perry) finding out Max was the bully not the whole town or even the school.

His other brother Gus also has a starring role on another show called THE VIKINGS (where he also plays the part of a psychopathic personality).

Is it a show actually about vikings? What network?

And WHO is it that's not GETTING WHAT they want in this story? ED? THE COPS? Jane seems to have gotten what she wanted (by way of BONNIE).

I don't think any of them got exactly what they wanted...not totally, no one ever really does, there is always something missing ...as it is in life things are not always when and how you may want them. Celeste doesn't have a perfect family/husband. I don't think she wanted a dead husband. Jane didn't _want _her rapist to be Celeste's husband. Madeline doesn't _want _ Jane's rapist to be Celeste's husband. All Bonnie wanted was to go to a party and sing and have fun, so I am sure she didn't want to have to kill Celeste's husband.

You might be right about Celeste and how she realized Perry raped Jane, but that scene also happens so fast that it was hard to absorb it all without watching it again.

I watched 3 times, Celeste realized.

Too bad we didn't get better Elvis impersonations.

That's definitely one case where Invidia didn't get what they were hoping for!!!

Guess Maddy's X couldn't swivel his hips around as well as Elvis did in Jail house rock?

rofl joy

@ScorpionQ2 : I assumed the residents knew it was Bonnie because at one point, an interviewee asked the interrogator why are you questioning us, we all know who did it. "Who did it" meaning they know the tripped and fell story is bullshit. Also, I'm sure the whole town knew the truth about Max by the time the police began their investigation; it seems the official interviews happened some time after the Trivia party. And gossip being the wildfire it is, I bet they probably heard it wasn't Ziggy almost immediately. Jane was right when she said she couldn't live in this town, I wouldn't last an hour in that snakepit. I'll have to watch the last episode again, though, in case I got it wrong. But I think a major thrust of the show was the whole "Ode to Billy Joe" mentality of the townspeople.

The one thing that bugs me is the way NONE of them did anything at the ELVIS performance that we saw them rehearsing for.

True, they didn't.

When Ed and Maddy's X hubby were rehearsing, they were moving around as if we were going to see them dancing as well as singing when they did their impersonations.

True.

So what's with the AUDREY singing impersonation?

Maybe they just wanted to show that "Bonnie" can actually sing, Did you know that Zoe Kravitz was the only one who actually sang for real (of course she lip synced to her own pre -recorded voice of the song).

And when MADDY'S X is wearing the JAIL HOUSE ROCK costume, why didn't he also sing a that song? The whole event MADE NO SENSE whatsoever!

What made no sense to me was why every man was Elvis and every woman was Audrey? Trivia Night? Why not just call it 'Elvis and Audrey Night'.

@ScorpionQ2 : "Vikings" is on the History Channel. Gus Skaarsgard got robbed, Alexander got all the looks in that family. The father, Stellan, has been around for years, most recently in the Marvel "Thor " movies. He was incredible in" The Girl with the Rose Tattoo". I love " Vikings" and Gus's character, Floki, is awesome.

No Sheezcrazy, the towns people do not know the real truth-neither do the police- it is the women's secret they share-that is the whole point. Watch the episode again.

@ScorpionQ2 : I'll be happy to watch it again, it was amazing. Maybe that woman said " we all know what happened".....not "we all know who did it".

It's hugely popular. Of course, that doesn't make it great cinema! But the writers do try to keep it historically accurate, and the production values are very high. Money has been spent on it, for sure. Vikings being what they are, it's certainly violent; I'd say on the level of Game of Thrones. Also, and this may not matter to you, the actors, in particular Travis Fimmel, are easy to watch. Due to its popularity, there's a "Vikings" wiki. For what it's worth, a complete stranger to you on a message board recommends it highly! 😆
