Item: Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-

Language: en-US

Type of Problem: Incorrect_content

Extra Details: The second season has been deleted and the episodes have been moved to Season 1 as episodes 26-50.

The official website uses continuous numbers for the episodes so, according to our anime guidelines, they belong in a single season.

P.S. I already noticed the season did not delete correctly and is still listed. I've reported internally and there's nothing else to do except wait until it's fixed. This has been fixed.

What stupid rules you have here, but we already told you that a hundred of times in multiple shows that you are screwing in this database, what a shame!

What does it say there? Huh? Can you read it? 2ND SEASON, for God's sake, this site and its rules make NO sense!

And what does it say right next to that? 26話. It cannot be the 26th episode of the second season because that's the first episode of the season.

Again, all episodes are numbered continuously from 1 to 50 (including an episode 11.5 which is the Memory Snow OVA that has been retroactively organized to be part of the DIrector's Cut) and have been since at least July 13, 2020, 5 days after the second season started airing.

You have voiced your displeasure on various other reports but please take a look at our anime guidelines for determining where to add new episodes, which have not changed for at least 3 years:

Long-running series with continuous episode numbers (e.g. 867, 868, 869) are added as a single season.

This is not a long-running series so this does not apply.

Episodes airing in a split cour format (e.g. Episodes 1-13, break, Episodes 14-26) are added in a single season. Examples: AKB0048

The second season is not a split-cours of the first season (though the second season itself did air as as a split-cours season) so this does not apply.

On the other hand, reboot series, spin-off series, series set in an alternative timeline, new adaptations based on the same source material, ... are added as a new TV entry. Examples: Digimon

The second season is not a reboot, spin-off, a series set in an alternative timeline, or a new adaptation so this doesn't apply.

The only ones left are the sequel series guideline and the multiple parts guideline. Whichever of the two applies, they both say the same thing: when episode numbers are continuous, all episodes are added to the same season.

Sequels series (i.e. a direct continuation of the story) are added within the same entry. When the episodes numbers are continuous, all episodes are added to the same season. When the episode count is restarted (i.e. the first episode is Episode 1), the new episodes are added as a new season.

and

When a series is released in two or more parts, the new episodes should also be added to the same season when the episode number are continuous. Sometimes the production of new episodes is halted for a year or more. Examples: Fairy Tail / Fairy Tail (2014), Dragon Ball Z Kai / Dragon Ball Z Kai: The Final Chapters, Naruto / Naruto Shippuden

There are many more anime entries whose seasons will be merged at some point in the future and I'm sure there are some whose seasons should be merged but haven't been reported yet. I manually merged this one due to this morning's announcement of a 3rd season. And yes, where to add those episodes will also depend on how they are numbered on the official website: if they continue with the current numbering (e.g. first episode is numbered 51 on the website), they should be added to the same season; if they restart (e.g. first episode is numbered 1 on the official website) a new season should be created.

This is precisely what I am saying, this rule does not make sense, even if the numbering of the episodes is continuous, this does not mean that they all belong to the same season (in the case of this series and many others). Even the same official page announces it as THIRD SEASON: http://re-zero-anime.jp/ https://i.ibb.co/0t36Tc4/Captura-de-pantalla-2023-03-25-a-la-s-16-18-08.png

The continuous numbering is not a parameter that by itself can determine the number of seasons, because, after all, it is only the way in which they have organized the episodes on their website, but it does not mean that they are all part of the same season.

That rule is archaic and meaningless, it should be changed, but no matter how many discussions are opened here, you don't even consider it, you are so attached to your egos that you don't give way to change something that bothers many users here, not only me. What is the point of these discussion spaces then? The worst of all is that Trakt uses this database on their site, if it were not so, I would not be here complaining, but unfortunately, Trakt uses TMDB.

Just why wouldn’t it use the production code name? Every series is continuous (or almost) by nature. And it’s clear that especially in this case seasons are separate (production code name is S2). There is séries without season but this one especially isn’t one of them

Furthermore if you look at the Blueray release they talk of season 1 & 2. Should’t be time to revise the rules cause it’s a waste of everyone times espacially when everyone accept that they are different seasons.

So why is there this edge case in the rules and how can we report it ?

Yes, this rule makes no sense. How many more sets are you going to apply it to before realizing it's a mistake.

This is a horrible rule which puts this site's view of "seasons" over the studio's. If whoever airs the show says it's the 2nd season or 3rd season or whatever then it should be reflected on the database. If it says on the opening credits "... season 2" then the TMDB should as well. Frankly this is ridiculous. Either change the rule or ignore it. Mods, you are not gods. You cannot, through the rules, make this anime a single season just because you think it is while everyone else who watches it think otherwise. Disgrace.

we lost that battle years ago... who cares about press releases, literal season named in Japanese when you can just reorder the whole show after it started airing - now that is a reliable data source.

http://re-zero-anime.jp/tv/story/. Please review the official site once again. The episodes are numbered from 1 to 50 (using absolute numbering). However, when you click on any episodes starting from episode 26 to 50, you will notice that they are specifically labelled as '- 2nd season episode 26 -', '- 2nd season episode 27 -', and so on.

This is this numbering that matter.
