Idk why but I just figured it was older than that. I guess magazines are older but not movies.

I think it became more mainstream and commercial in the 70s. The show hasn't got to this yet, but there was a Supreme Court ruling that gave it more leeway.

Actually yes and no I guess is more accurate. Yes the word "porn" was more mainstream then and became more household word so to speak. But actual sexual art, erotica, etc (what some might label as soft porn these days, but was considered scandalous and hard porn back in the day) goes back thousands of years. You see it in cave drawings, hieroglyphics, and so forth. If it was "forbidden" it was accessible in one form or the other...

Ok show far from great and as much as I dislike Maggie G. I will say she's actually good in her role. Also, I don't understand why we needed the twins, the rogue twin I could do without. And to the pimps, I guess since I don't like them in general but all of the pimps in here are "ALL" uninteresting. Only 8 episodes and a lackluster season finale I'm not sure if I'll watch season 2.

THE TWINS! GAWD! That whole concept was really not needed for the story. Why is it IMPERATIVE to the show that James Franco play 2 characters??? It means NOTHING to the story. When I am watching the show, I always think of Franco saying to the writer/director/producer, "Hey man! I have always wanted to play two different characters in a film/show! I think I would be soooooo good at it! Can you make my character into twins dude?" I can't think of any other purpose for 'twins' in this show.

The twins were based on real (unnamed) people. The surviving one ("Vince" on the show) told the creators a lot of the stories/characters that made their way into the series. Not saying they needed the twins, or that I enjoyed them (Frankie was especially annoying), but it did stay true-ish to the real people who inspired the show. I suppose it was also supposed to be good twin/bad twin, and the main story arc for Vince in the last season hinged on Frankie being in the show.
