Discuss Doraemon

Item: Doraemon

Type of Problem: Incorrect_content

Extra Details: Please merge most of the current special episodes to Season 1.

As mentioned in another (more detailed) post here, the current definition of Special is not consistent among themselves nor to the contribution bible, and will cause problems to most users.

Shin Chan, by contrast, has put the segments from the so-called special episodes along with those from non-special ones, which is the correct approach since TMDb is segment based rather than episode based.

In a word, something (especially in a long-run show like this with rerun segments) should only be added to Special season if 1) it's not airred on TV; 2) it's not a theatrical film.

The guidelines are to follow the official listing. That's the only thing the specials need the be consistent with.

While "following the official listing" is indisputable, I would suggest reconsider the definition of their "special" and what may be lost in translation. Most of all, from the bible:

Special episodes are any episodes that did not originally air as part of a regular, usually numbered season. Sometimes a network will call an episode a "special" episode—as an example, "in this special holiday themed episode"—but still assign it a season and episode number; in those cases, it should not be added to the special season here but, instead, to the season assigned to it by the network.

And this is (mostly) the case with Doraemon スペシャル (although the show does not have season and episode number whatsoever, but the airing schedule is the same and episode listing is consecutive). I have given more examples in my original post.
