I'm Australian, I haven't seen it or even heard of it till now. I just did a read up of it and it's definitely worth a look.. I love tv shows that portray 20s 30s 40s 50s especially Aussie tv series.. My favourite being Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries, set in Melbourne in the 20s

By the way, completely disregard that the TMDb users' rating presently shows just 52% satisfaction for it. On IMDb, where it's much more realistically rated, 1,777 viewers have scored the series 8.2 out of max possible 10 stars.

It's made by the same people who wrote Packed to the Rafters, which was a fabulous series. now finished. It's on my watch list now I think I'll do a binge watch of the first season, since it's only 13 eps..

I actually don't take notice of ratings, although I do rate shows myself.

OMG I've only just finished episode 4 and I love it.. That Mrs Bligh is such a contradiction. Trying to work her out.

In the States, where I live, and where, in my area, this airs on one of my PBS stations, the station was airing this during two recent pledge break periods - and PBS stations only ever air the best shows, that they know people definitely will want to pledge money to keep coming, during pledge break periods.

Sorry, what are they pledging money for? If you don't mind me asking..

On American t.v., PBS (the Public Broadcasting Service), which airs all sorts of quality commercial-free programming, periodically run pledge breaks. PBS stations air the best and most popular programming during pledge breaks so that fans and appreciative viewers will call in and pledge money in order to help keep the same and similar broadcasting coming. It helps determine what will be airing going forward.

The government provides basic funding to PBS nationally. But then each individual station runs pledge breaks to increase available funding, which keeps already-great programming coming, plus makes purchasing of additional programming, and new future production, possible. In APtCH's case, it's an already existing popular hit series in Australia. Since PBS typically airs mainly programming produced either in the U.S. or England, not too many Australian series air. But more are beginning to, all the time, as American viewers appreciate the additional quality viewing options. Since APtCH is a prestige high-quality series, that's every bit equivalent to the best of the British and American series, episodes-airings rights can be purchased by individual PBS stations.

Sounds like out ABC although it's government funded. They do have similar types of shows, BUT a lot of the public money is used for political statements and tv shows which are so biased which is a slap in the face because it's funded by the taxpayer. I've always advocated it should be privatized.. If they actually had to work for their money it might make a difference to what they air.

Thanks for that explanation. I think we need a similar program here. ABC gets $millions to air their propoganda. I say they should stay out of politics altogether and just air programs that main stream aussies are interested in.. That was the original premise. But oh have times changed. I steer away from ABC now. Actually I don't watch Ausssie tv at all. My tv has been unplugged to all stations as they are so far behind the rest of the world to tv shows/movies etc. That's why I hadn't heard of A Place Called Home. In other words Aussie tv is rubbish Except for a rare few shows, which I find on the internet anyway.

Canadian viewer here. BBC Canada is airing season 4. It will eventually show up on PBS but don't know when. Love this show!

Incidentally Season 2 has been my favourite season so far viewed.
