Its pretty crazy but I'm actually kind of glad they went this route. I'm in the camp of give it a chance, as opposed to 99% of the reaction i've seen (not you) saying how terrible it is. These are the same folks that are "tired of the same people" and "nobody ever get elevated" which i find hilarious.

Yeah, because when people complained about no one new being elevated, I'm sure they were thinking of Jinder Mahal.

I don't care much personally, since I haven't watched Smackdown in weeks, and it's probably only designed as a one-month test run to see how people react to it before they probably just switch the title back to Orton at the next SD PPV.

I hope this is short lived. Jinder absolutely sucks. He's a terrible promo. His match with Orton was god awful. He is in no way a main event level performer.

Not honna lie. Seeing the hate towards this makes me want him to have a JBL type run. Don't care if he cheats his way. He has paid his dues and has gotten a top spot out of it.

I couldn't be happier for Jinder. A bunch of guys from Houston have verified that Jinder is the nicest, most humble guy around, so it's definitely hard to root against a guy like that.

The reasons behind the decision are ridiculously transparent, and with the amount of talent they now have on Smackdown putting the title on him of all people seems absurd, but I'm not at all repulsed by the move. Stupid as it is to turn someone from a midcard job guy into world champion in the course of about a month... Randy Orton is so fucking boring I'm just glad they got the belt off of him. I've really liked Jinder's promos, and the match at Backlash could have gone far, far worse than it did (see Orton's two world title matches with Bray Wyatt at the preceding pair of PPV's)

Well if that's all it takes to get a top spot, than I look forward to Primo Colon's WWE title run next year. He can win it off Aiden English at Wrestlemania 34.

lol F*ck "paying dues." You get the world title when you prove you're entertaining enough to be the top guy, even if only for a brief amount of time.

You have to be given a chance to prove you're entertaining to be able to do that. Worst case scenario he holds the belt for a few weeks and everyone forgets about it. Best case scenario he steps up and we get a legit guy. He's put in the work, now see if he can hold up.

When WWE goes on the India tour, they're going to have a ton of people worshiping the biggest babyface they've had since Khali, which is a huge factor in the decision to put the belt on him.

This is the biggest opportunity he'll ever have. I hope he knocks it out of the park.

Is this a joke? Be given a chance to prove you're entertaining? How about he does that BEFORE getting a title? What about guys who were entertaining and over without a world title, like Sandow and Barret? Both a thousand times more talented, charismatic and over than Jinder, yet were never given a run. Styles and Owens got over WAY before they got the belt.

It isn't easy to prove yourself in that capacity when you are booked on the losing end of squash matches. I agree that jobber to WWE champ is too quick of an ascension, but my point in my last post remains. Jinder has a leg up due to his ethnic background lining up with what WWE wants to do, and whether or not its for the right reason someone is actually getting elevated. Barrett is the stopped push I am most annoyed with in recent times, but both him and Sandow got Cena'd unfortunately. Hopefully WWE doesn't continue with that particular practice.

Jinder had a month to prove himself. He had matches against Sami Zayn, AJ Styles, and now, Randy Orton. They all sucked. He had plenty of promo time, and he never had a good one.

Which goes back to my earlier post where I said " Worst case scenario he holds the belt for a few weeks and everyone forgets about it"

My only point was that new stars don't get built without giving chances. Between his rematch with Orton and someone having a MITB case I don't see him holding it for a long time. This is the perfect time of the year to test people and see if they sink or swim.

I'd still rather have seen him going through the ranks rather than just getting such a massive win out of nowhere. That being said, Smackdown apparently had an initial spike of 18% the episode after his title victory. Whether he can sustain it or not will give a clear indication if he keeps the title.

They do have capable wrestlers that can hold the title, but I'd rather not see it back on Orton. That was a total....waste. I'm assuming that was his "Thank You" from Vince McMahon for taking the match and the hits that came along with his match at Summerslam with Brock Lesnar.
