Mister Ed: "Willlllbur!"
I used to love (in reruns) this show when I was a kid. Who, of my generation, could possibly forget that theme song? Even now, after all these years, I still readily recall it.

It's a fantastic show that I can watch over and over again without getting bored. As far as I can remember life then seemed so simple and all the problems were so easily solved.
My favourite character was...not Mister Ed... but Carol (Connie Hines).
Did she ever find out that Mister Ed could talk, or did she just kept on believing - in a tender loving way - that Wilbur was just a bit (horse) 'crazy'?

I think it was that.
It's been decades (probably the '70s) since I last saw any episodes of this series, though sure did love it while growing up. It's still easy to "hear" (in memory) Mister Ed saying ""Willlllbur", and of course that theme song is entirely catchy and irresistible (and definitely impossible to forget!).
Ah, the wonderful and sweet memories of simpler earlier times.....

I just watched two episodes, and it's really so uncomplicated, compared to everything else - except perhaps for some cartoons - that I'm watching now.
It's like having vanilla or strawberry ice cream, which I still prefer, above all the choices you have now with chocolate chunks, marshmallows and cookie dough, and gazillions of flavours.

I know exactly what you mean regarding then vs. now. And low-tech and basic was perfectly fine - a complete non-issue; absolutely no one minded or cared as that simply was the way t.v. was, and everyone accepted it.
