In this phase, the coaches pit two of their own team members against each other in a dueling duet. Each coach has two steals during the battle rounds where their artists will proceed to the knockout rounds.

Music phenomenon Miley Cyrus serves as a key adviser and is on hand to work with all of the coaches and their teams as they prepare the artists for this challenge. The coaches alone choose the winner from their team to move on to the live shows and the artist not selected is available to be stolen by another coach.
