To Jet:
One could attribute Calabrian Queen’s illogic “aggression” to the negative effect apparently full moons have on some people or maybe he reacts to what he considers an intrusion (of a new poster)in "his territory" /the BBT board.
What ever the case be ,best to stay in familiar "territory " among friends . Just remember you're _ important to this board .... to us_, Jet
This game you mentioned seems fun ..so I thought why not play a TOS version.
I copy and pasted the rules.
The idea is to say something “about the show” in exactly six words (“about the show” meaning: anyone/anything in any connection.)
Three Simple Rules:
a. Emojis count as a word.
b. Hyphenated words count individually.
c. Contractions count as one word.
I’ll break the ice :
Kirk, Spock, and Bones are awesome.

Sorry but I wasn't joking..
You wrote:
"They say this *cat **Shaft is a bad **mother *..." "Shut your mouth!" "I'm talking about Shaft!"
So I thought I got it all wrong thinking Shaft was a man .
Instead I was right ...but that doesn't make sense (to me ) to refer /call a MAN a CAT (a feline) and a bad Mother.
I normally associate the words **cat /feline **and **mother **to a woman.
Anyways Thanks

You don't get that the singer is interrupted while about to say "That cat Shaft is a bad m-f-er"?
And you've never heard of people being referred to as a "cool cat" etc?
I forget where you're located/come from.

@to Knixon:
I didn't listen to the whole song ..I thought it was just instrumental .. My apologises .
(On its own) the phrase you wrote :
"They say this cat Shaft is a bad mother *..." "Shut your mouth!"
is confusing ..for the reasons I have already explained .
And *NO * I have never heard "people" being referred to as "cool cat". "People " is plural to begin with.
A woman can be referred to as a cool cat but I have never heard *people * being referred to in that way .
I have learnt a new expression then.

Here we have a culture clash.

People, a person, whatever. Is there some reason only a woman can be a "cool cat?" Cats are both male and female.
Colloquial (American) English might be confusing to "outsiders" but especially in what amounts to "pop culture" forums like this, it's difficult to adjust to people who don't understand a person being referred to as a "cool cat" or who may think "bad-ass" can only refer to defective bowels.
Lord only knows what you think "whoop-ass" means. Or the opening of a can thereof.

Aw, Knixon. Your true colors just had to make an appearance, didn't they?
Sunshine, on behalf of American Culture, I apologize. If you would like a gentleman to explain any American slang terms, you have but to ask.

Okay, I don't necessarily agree with that, but I won't argue the point. However, you didn't resort to insulting condescension.
A lovely Sunday to you, as well.

from a popular expression
"Would you rather be a dude or a cat? If it was the 1920s, definitely a cat. A dude was square. A cat was cool. Again, it’s the world of jazz that gave us this word for fellow or guy. It’s likely that it has some connection to the feline pet, for the popular conception of a jazz musician could be said to possess many similar qualities to a cat — quick on his feet, resourceful, but with a languid, slightly aloof quality."

That wasn't insulting or condescending. That was concern and a little frustration at having someone in a conversation who may not understand a lot of commonly-used idioms, lingo, slang... But the rest of us just cruise on by without noticing. Or even thinking about how confusing it could be to someone who might be trying to take everything literally.

Your interpretation. "Lord only knows..." is not automatically insulting or condescending. As I just posted, the issue is realizing what another person might think of expressions we use every day without even thinking.

I don't have the energy to argue with you, Knix. We lower life forms are weak at times.
