Discuss Pawn Stars

Season 1 Missing Episode 21 "A Christmas Special". It's listed as Episode 21 on the DVD, Official Website and Wikipedia.

Season 2's (E24) "A Whale of a Time" is titled "Whale of a Time" on the official website but noted "A Whale of a Time" on Wikipedia, Not too sure which is correct.

S3 Episode 19 is a weird one, named "Pedal to the Medal" here and on Wikipedia, yet its listed as "Pedal to the Metal" on the official website.

I'm sorry, I don't follow -> do you mean season 4 or season 6? In your first post, you link to season 4 -> but then you write "(Season 6 25-26)".

If you want, I can compare our TMDb listing with wikipedia and the original website -> but this might take some time and I might not finish today ... grin

EDIT: The big difference between the TMDb data and the data at Wikipedia is the seasoning. TMDb did organize the season entries per calender year, Wikipedia did organize the data according to the season order on the original website/network. This is bad, because at some point in the past the TMDb order went awol, and that's when the mess began in later seasons. This will take some time to fix ... crying_cat_face

EDIT2: I've fixed seasons 1&2 (half) and 12-15 so far according to the episode list on the official website. There are a few differences between the official listing and Wikipedia - I don't know why and don't trust Wikipedia. It's extremely complicated and I need a break; perhaps until tomorrow ... cake sleepy

EDIT3: I'm done with moving all episodes into the correct seasons:

https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/21755-pawn-stars/seasons?language=en-US

Except for a few episodes that seem to be specials, the order should be correct now. I'm not sure about those specials though -> the difference between Wikipedia and the original listing on the website are mostly because of those episodes. I have to think about this another time ...

Also, very often, two episodes aired or were released on the same day, and the order differs between Wikipedia and the original website. I always decided to go with the website -> except for 1 time when there was obviously a mistake made by the official source.

There are most likely many simple mistakes that I made during the fix, for example wrong dates. This has to be checked another time.

I removed all backdrops with channel logo, but I also kept a lot, especially in the later seasons. Another user uploaded the video stills from the website - and they are okay.

I'm tired now. That was a lot of moving ... mountain_bicyclist_tone4 sweat bed zzz

according to the episode list on the official website.

Just make sure you check the original seasons. The official website is often wrong. It's one of the network who is known to re-arrange their seasons every few years.

Edited the thread to show current issues ive spotted.

How do I do that, exactly? Do I go back in the WaybackMachine as far as possible? Do I have to look for other sources? I'm not sure how to achieve this, practically?!? thinking

@PRAGMA:

I'm between sleep and work, so this is just a short info. Thanks so much for checking possible mistakes and adding better overviews, and especially for uploading images!!! That last one was quite hard for me ... cold_sweat I'm going to look at all this later today ... construction_worker_tone3

Yeah the images are very annoying, mainly as they are 1 pixel too wide, so I have to crop every image by a measly 1 pixel to be able to upload...

Yes, indeed, I had to do the same. worried But it looks like the images of later seasons are in 1920x1080! Another moderator uploaded images in this size for season 14 and 15 today. I'm not sure he continues with the earlier seasons, though ...

I checked all 15 seasons today between our TMDb data and the original website - but NOT Wikipedia! I fixed all the mistakes I could find, added the proper overviews, and also locked the episode titles and the air dates. If you find any mistakes in the future, just tell me here in this disucssion and I'm going to change it. I often make tiny mistakes, and I'm also not very good with English capitalization of words in titles -> so there might still be some mistakes I didn't catch.

About this:

Season 2's (E24) "A Whale of a Time" is titled "Whale of a Time" on the official website but noted "A Whale of a Time" on Wikipedia, Not too sure which is correct.

I trust the official website and decided to take "Whale of a Time" -> https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/21755-pawn-stars/season/2/episode/24

S3 Episode 19 is a weird one, named "Pedal to the Medal" here and on Wikipedia, yet its listed as "Pedal to the Metal" on the official website.

I assume that's a spelling error on Wikipedia; the overview doesn't hint at medals, but mentions the pedal of a car, which would insinuate metal -> https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/21755-pawn-stars/season/3/episode/19

Season 1 Missing Episode 21 "A Christmas Special". It's listed as Episode 21 on the DVD, Official Website and Wikipedia.

Now it gets complicated. scream TMDb usually puts special episodes of tv shows in a special season with the number 0. For this show, it's here:

https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/21755-pawn-stars/season/0

At the moment, the first episode here is the episode "A Christmas Special" - and that's where it should be according to our rules. On the other hand, it's not according to the order of the official page -> and I'm not sure which order we should follow? The good thing is that we can use episode groups for all kinds of orders here on TMDb now. So that's not our main problem. It gets worse! worried

Because that's not the only episode we should probably move into the Specials, there are many others. In comparison, take a look at the special season at TVDb! astonished Their list includes several episodes that are on the official website as "regular" episodes, and it includes episodes that do not appear on the official website at all. I'm not sure how to deal with this, yet? These episodes are mostly revisit or look back episodes, meaning, they probably have no new footage. Which would be an alternative version, and this should be either excluded or put in the Specials. It's really complicated, and it makes it harder for me to make a final decision. Here's a list of all problematic episodes that I found today on the official website - some of them are in the regular date order, some of them appear at the end of the season out of the date order:

  • S1E21 "Christmas Special" -> special in title
  • S4E38 "The Pick, the Pawn, and the Polish" -> crossover episode with "American Resotration"
  • S8E46 "A Very Vegas Christmas" -> crossover episode with "Counting Cars" and "American Restoration"
  • S10E45 "Biggest Buys & Busts" -> revisit
  • S10E46 "Greatest Haggles" -> revisit
  • S11E40 "Personal Collection" -> personal revisit
  • S11E41 "On the Road" -> revisit
  • S11E42 "Priciest Pawns" -> revisit
  • S12E9 "60's Pawn" -> look back
  • S12E11 "Money Makers" -> revisit
  • S12E12 "70's Pawn" -> look back
  • S12E13 "80's Pawn" -> look back
  • S12E15 "90's Pawn" -> look back
  • S12E17 "The Star Wars Vault" -> look back
  • S12E19 "Wicked Weapons" -> revisit
  • S12E29 "Blockbuster Buys" -> look back
  • S12E30 "Gangsters, Guns, & Guitars" -> revisit
  • S12E31 "Deals on Wheels" -> revisit
  • S12E32 "One in a Million" -> revisit
  • S12E41 "Trash or Treasure" -> revisit
  • S12E43 "Rocking Restorations" -> revisit
  • S12E44 "Famous Finds" -> revisit
  • S12E45 "Hollywood Goods" -> revisit
  • S13E10 "Great Negotiations" -> revisit

It's mostly season 12 -> lots of revisits in this season. worried I have to think about this longer in the next days - any opinions from other moderators? thinking

Also, 1 other tiny thing:

  • S10E36 "Off to the Races" -> obviously wrong number on the official website, that's E34 (it's a typo)

Other than that complicated decision, everything else should be fine now with the structure of the seasons/episodes. smiley_cat

How do I do that, exactly? Do I go back in the WaybackMachine as far as possible? Do I have to look for other sources?

You can try Wayback Machine, but it might not be super useful. Press releases can help and social media account can sometimes help:

Season 2 of PAWN STARS is now playing on History! 10:02 PM - 30 Nov 2009 [x)

[...] are back for a third season of the mega hit series, Pawn Stars, premiering Monday, June 7 (x)

The SEASON 3 PREMIERE of PAWN STARS! 10:00 PM - 7 Jun 2010 (x)

It's always a big, ridiculously complicated puzzle though. After a while they always stop numbering the seasons and refer to both season and mid-season premieres as series premieres.

As far as I can tell, Season 1 to 3 are 100% correct, possibly 4 too. Now, I can say, my new DVD that arrived which is "Seasons 1 & 2" from Amazon, has some of Season 1 on the Season 2 DVD and for all the episodes the order is completely different, almost randomized.

Either way, I do feel as though the current seasons and orders are correct as these DVD's arent produced officially by the creators/owners but were sent off to be handled and distributed by "Go Entertainment Group Ltd." which possibly caused this whole ordering to fk up in the first place...

Just please fix S1E21, it should be "A Christmas Special" the current episode 21 up just make them incremented 1 episode up as they are ordered correctly.

Btw januar, the bit about the medal/metal/pedal bs, what I meant by the "Metal" bit was that one of the items appraised is a big heap of metal or some shit (See the screenshot on official website). So its a 50/50 who spelled it right haha

As for the Special and the Season 0, I know all about that and why it exists, however it is marked as an official aired episode and not any kind of special, it is a "Clip" show, and these are common as Episodes and arent rlly specials, its just has the word special. I put my vote in as it being in Season 1 so that is doesnt fk with the episode numbers of the ones after 21.

As for the specials, lots of those are quick 1-3 minute clips. On my DVD for example I have the "Fake or Fortune" which is a educational clip on showing how Gold is Fake or Real. Theres one on silver too. Theres lots of these clip ones too especially S2 Disc 4.

Hey PRAGMA,

this is just a "short" reply - I don't have much time for this today. hourglass_flowing_sand

Yes, according to your DVDs, and to the official website, it's correct. But our big problem is what @banana_girl wrote yesterday -> the original air dates and the season order on History/History Channel were most likely (completely?) different from what the official website states now. However, TMDb always tries to find and add the original air dates and how the seasons were broadcast! And the DVDs don't help us here, I think. Or do you have any info on the DVDs about the original air dates? Do they write specifically "original air date" or "first air date" or something like that? Or just the dates?

Either way, I do feel as though the current seasons and orders are correct as these DVD's arent produced officially by the creators/owners but were sent off to be handled and distributed by "Go Entertainment Group Ltd." which possibly caused this whole ordering to fk up in the first place...

I spent the whole yesterday to figure this out in any way -> and it's completely insane and got me mad. The infos I found about the earlier seasons are very contradictory and incomplete, and many of the air dates on the original website are most likely incorrect or fantasy numbers. I gave up after hours of frustration and really don't know what to do now?

I made a list with links to season premiere dates that I actually found on History's twitter account, or on official websites of the show, or in the press, etc. I'm going to post this list as a new post in a few. It's still incomplete and with many question marks, but that's a start for now. And you can see, just for example: Season 2 and 3 had earlier premiere dates than the dates on the official website -> and that's our big problem! frowning_face

Just please fix S1E21, it should be "A Christmas Special" the current episode 21 up just make them incremented 1 episode up as they are ordered correctly.

The order is no problem. When I'm done with the original airing, you can create an episode group for your DVDs and then put this special back into your season 1 order. I think it's a special and it belongs into season 0.

As for the Special and the Season 0, I know all about that and why it exists, however it is marked as an official aired episode and not any kind of special, it is a "Clip" show, and these are common as Episodes and arent rlly specials, its just has the word special.

What does "Clip" show mean? Is it an episode with scenes from earlier episodes, like a "Best of"?

I put my vote in as it being in Season 1 so that is doesnt fk with the episode numbers of the ones after 21.

Later, you can create any order you want with an episode group. Very often, the order in different countries varies on DVDs, and then you can make different DVD orders for each one. It's a bit tricky to create, but it's really nice at the end.

As for the specials, lots of those are quick 1-3 minute clips. On my DVD for example I have the "Fake or Fortune" which is a educational clip on showing how Gold is Fake or Real. Theres one on silver too. Theres lots of these clip ones too especially S2 Disc 4.

But those examples that I mentioned in my earlier post -> they don't seem to be short clips like the one's you mention. They seem to be proper long episodes, but with content that already aired. I give you an example:

S11E42 "Priciest Pawns" -> it's on "dailymotion" here: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5y239e - that's a best of of scenes from earlier episodes. And here's the thing:

  • the official website says => it's a proper episode
  • TMDb says => best of => it's a special episode

I think I'm going to move many (if not all) of these into the Special season were they belong. It's not a definite decision; first I have to figure out all season premieres and the order. Somehow ... worried

That's it for today. sun_with_face
