Thought Covenant was crap, but yes -- Lange was the best thing in the show for seasons 1-4. The whole tone changed when she left, and not for the better. I don't know what made them think Lady Gaga could replace her as the lead. LOL. Murphy needed to find someone of her acting caliber, like a Sigourney Weaver or a Holly Hunter. I would love to see Elizabeth Perkins chew some scenery too.

1 - 2 are superb. 3 and 4 felt a little confused; 5 and 6 I quit! Lange probably got tired of playing the same character, good as she was.

Exactly. Although, I expect to see a lot of cameos this season. I doubt Jessica will be one or they would have used it in the ads leading up to the new season. I would have love to see an actor that has some real chops , Kathy Bates is okay, but she has had a lot of medical issues, so I don't think she brings it like she used to. And I'm tired of Paulson. I wished they had a different lead for her role. It almost feels like you are watching community theater, different story, same actors that come back year after year

Joan Collins is the standout in this current season. The rest of the cast and story line is typical post apocalyptic poop. One two scenarios seem to exist for story tellers: the Mad Max barren wasteland full of crazed groups of killers or groups of cliche human archetypes run by dictatorial hypocrites in radiation proof shelters. Here we have the latter. Oh yeah there is a hint of some post nuke monsters that can eat a whole horse out there but... will that amount to anything??

Joan definitely lifts the material every scene she's in. I don't understand why Venable and Meade were channeling Nurse Diesel from High Anxiety. Maybe if Murphy got Leachman in the show...

Honestly actors help but do not mke a show\movie. Just saw, as an excample, "You Were Never Really Here" and while the acting was superb, the movie was a bore. Here this show needs better writing. Only ten eps a season and still we got "Cult". It started off strong (like this one) and I was certain Peters would get an Emmy nod, but then the show let him down.

Yuukkk!!! Lady Gaga's acting... and now they are talking Oscar for A Star Is Born... I hope it doesn't happen. They should have tried Gena Rowlands if she is still working or Ellen Burstyn...they would have been a great replacement for Jessica Lange.... but not Betty White, she wants to be in everything.

But Betty White would have made a believable 150 year old vampire.

Have to say that I think it would be awesome for Betty White to have a couple scenes!

From what I have read ahead on IMDB Jessica Lange DOES come back this season as her character from Murder House; and Taissa will play both her parts from season one and coven! Connie Britton returns as well! It can only mean this season will be either incredibly awesome or a total mess!!

This season was the best in ages, but not because of the return of season 1's cast. I actually felt that particular episode was disappointing.
