Flex some literary muscle here and break it down for me. Let's see what we can collectively come up with.

I am sad to say this show should come to a end . breaking bad ws as so good because it seemed like a 50 hour movie. It seem like it was 1 good story with a ending, It had the starting story, the middle and then a final ending story. Its time for the writers to start with the ending story. It should start the ending halfway through next season then end it 2 years from now.

I agree, but Gimple seems to think it can go on without Rick, so I don't think we are anywhere near the end.

All those comments mean is that Lincoln is asking for more money.

Last season the show definitely jumped the shark when Glen died horribly and Negan was introduced.

Nah. It was long before that. For me it was around the time of side episode beginnings, a la Tara/Governor, Daryl/Beth solo episodes.

Tara needs to die next she is awfully boring to watch. Its not like she adds much to the show either.

Not only do I like Tara, but she is extremely important to the show!

Tara was once under the Governor. She saw him, saw Rick/Rick's group, and came to clarity as to who/which was evil, and which was not evil.

For all those trying to argue that Rick/group is no different than Megan or any other, Tara served to represent someone who was inside different groups and recognizes the difference.

That's going to continue to be important, in order for us to continue rooting for our protagonist group and not confusing them with the various antagonists they encounter.

I've never understood the hate that so many seem to have for Tara. She isn't my favorite, but it seems out of proportion. TETO, I guess.

A token of what? Honest question.

I assume he means because she's gay. But by that logic Daryl is the token redneck.

I didn't know she receives so much hate? I find the actress who plays her to be pretty hot, well not on the show since they make her look all homely, most of the female characters look much more attractive when they are done up, obviously they have to look rugged on the show since no one going to get make over in the middle of a zombie apocalypse.

I just don't think her character is all that interesting or vital to the show, but she gets to out live so many way more meaningful characters such as Glenn, who has a freaking son on the way.

Let's give credit to the writers for avoiding the utterly convenient fantasy of ensuring all the "more meaningful" characters survive when death is an equal-opportunity employer. It's more realistic for death to touch even some of the meaningful characters.

Hmmm...having said that, I suppose it can't make sense if Rick dies - the show is his story. But every other character is up for grabs, as they come in and out of his life.

Id love for Rick to die, then a bad ass like Daryl can take the group to new heights. Or even Carol or Maggie would make a great new leader.

But yeah Tara and Father Gabriel should both get the axe very soon next!

when death is an equal-opportunity employer

Some people are better at surviving than others. It’s a bit baffling that somebody like Father Gabriel was able to survive as long as he did, let alone the residents of Alexandria. Glenn, on the other hand, was one of the smartest and most resourceful characters on the show. People complain about the dumpster fake-out, and for good reason—but the fact is it felt like the show kept trying to put him in mortal peril over and over, and a lot of it felt forced.

True!

Indeed. But again, good things happen to bad people, and bad things happen to good people - just like in life, shit happens. Assholes get ahead, nice guys finish last. Am I happy with it? Nope, neither in real life nor in the show.

People complain about the dumpster fake-out, and for good reason—

Rightly so. Gimmicky BS toying with us.

but the fact is it felt like the show kept trying to put him in mortal peril over and over, and a lot of it felt forced.

Agree.

But again, good things happen to bad people, and bad things happen to good people - just like in life

That’s not what I was talking about. I was talking about survival skills. It’s not difficult to understand why Negan has survived this long while, say, Andrea’s sister didn’t make it past the first season. Indeed, morality and compassion can be an impediment in a zombie apocalypse (that’s actually one of the commonest themes in the genre). I suppose one of Glenn’s weaknesses was seeing the good in people, which is what got him almost killed in the dumpster sequence and which in a way parallels Gabriel’s (really really stupid) attempt to help Gregory even after he betrayed the group. In general, though, Glenn was very quick-thinking and usually knew exactly what to do (in contrast to Gabriel who seems barely able to protect himself when he first meets Rick’s group), yet it was like the show kept throwing his life into jeopardy until he was killed basically randomly—which in itself isn’t unbelievable but the problem is that it happened so often with his character it made it seem like he was a magnet for bad luck, and that’s where you could see the writers at work.

Daryl has more to him than his redneck-ness, which is a trait that barely represents his character at this point. Tara has had some development, but a significant part of her character is that she's "the gay one."
