Discuss Game of Thrones

The amount of story they were covering was too much for only 13 episodes. Imagine if the first 3 seasons of GoT were 13 episodes. Ned’s beheading episode 2, black water battle episode 7, Red wedding episode 13.

Well maybe these shows should take a hint form Daytimes Soaps and just never end. Just kill off characters when someone wants to leave the show.

Oh gods no. Its not hard to tell a story with a proper ending. But I do wish that HBO would revert to the old 13 episodes a season formula.

I thought that was the difference between British & American TV programing.

I'm not too familiar with Britsh TV but when HBO first starting airing TV shows they stuck adamantly with 13 episodes a season. The 10 episode season, especially for a show like GOT just completely hampers the story development.

..............but its supposed to allow more time per episode to develop such shows /characters.

Frankly i find the idea you need 70 hours to develop all these characters to be ridiculous. One my Favorite characters is Rocky Balboa. When you first meet rocky is nothing more reluctant loan shark. He gets a shot at fight the Heavyweight champ and dosn't even want to win. He just wants to "go the distance". He meets and fall in love with a shy girl and probably one of the more believable romances in cinema. Eventually he becomes rich and famous and then loses it all. Years later he loses the love his life and has to deal with the pain. Later he meets Apollo son and gets cancer. Rocky is ready to give up, hes lost everything. But Apollo son gives him reason to keep going.

Point is Rocky Balboa is more a real person to me. Then anyone in these shows. And sure this all happens in multiple movies. But the whole Rocky Saga including the Creed Films. Is only 14 hours long. If they have too many characters. Maybe they should kill them off a long time ago.

I would have happily watched those 30 episodes. However, I support the writers decision to make 13. They did a fantastic job from seasons 1-6, so I think they earned the right to end the show the way they wanted.

(Personally though I enjoyed 7 and 8)

But I think most would agree that season 7 & 8 also deserved up to 13 episodes each.
