Discuss Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

(S)TOS R&R Mess hall is replaced in season two of "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (2022-)" with a bigger and more luxurious version: "The Port Galley," the USS Enterprise's lounge and bar.

Fans are eagerly waiting for the musical duo Uhura & Spock to perform in season two. wink

So they had to copy Ten Forward, too?

Each time this USS Enterprise (NCC-1701) is looking more and more advanced than that of (S)TOS. You should have seen sickbay and the ready room in season one.

I can't get it to work. Your link takes me to where the link is but it will not play.

I'm quite happy that I didn't.

There are two links:

(S)TOS R&R Mess hall

"The Port Galley," the USS Enterprise's lounge and bar

The first link isn't from the ship, it was from Deep Space Station K-7.

Later in that same episode, "The Trouble with Tribbles," when Kirk orders food that arrives with Tribbles all over it, THAT was on the ship.

The second one. Just tried it again & the video doesn't appear in the space. If I scroll down a bit a very light blue screen comes up but then as soon as I scroll back up, just a black space again.

Correct. wink

I replaced the link with another one. It's even better, as there might be some singing in season two.

Port Galley? Isn't the galley where food is made? This was a bar.

You're correct. A galley is the kitchen on a ship.

'Port Galley' is how the writers named this Enterprise's area with a restaurant, lounge and bar. Other older names are Rec(reation) Room, combined with mess hall and lounge. In "Star Trek: The Next Generation" it was called 'Ten Forward', because it was located at the forward section of Deck 10.

The only galley (Neelix cooking)I remember was in Voyager, the rest (TNG, DS9) just showed where they ate, the replicators, or a bar/lounge. I haven't watched any of the really new series, can't afford another streaming channel.

I always wondered what the illustrious bowling alley on board of Enterprise would look like .
