The Movie Database Support

I searched for an actor and no results showed up. But when I searched for a movie he was in, and then clicked on the credits it showed the actor. So the actor is in the database but you can't find the actor when you're searching for him.

A movie just got added to his credits but it doesn't show up when you search for the movie and so do the other actors in the movie. Maybe that has a connection?

Movie: The Highland

Actor: Justin Geertsen

I just tried experimenting, to see if I'd experience the same as you did, and, indeed, did. The only way I was able to find the actor was to look him up on IMDb, try various titles of films he's listed, there, as having appeared in, finally found one that's on TMDb, checked the cast list, and found him on it. Here's his TMDb profile page:

https://www.themoviedb.org/person/2120409-josh-justin-geertsen?language=en-US

Strange that he won't come up in search results, as I looked over everything on his profile's editing screens, and nothing, whatsoever, looks unusual or "off" in any type way; everything appears completely normal.

The only one thing that I wonder if it's impacted anything is that I see his name was originally added to TMDb as Josh Justin Geertsen, but that it was subsequently edited to Justin Geertsen.

Both work for me.

https://www.themoviedb.org/search?query=The%20Highland&language=en-US (second one down)

https://www.themoviedb.org/search/person?query=Justin%20Geertsen&language=en

I notice you added in the film - might it be worth trying a different browser? I'm wondering if you have old results cached.

The Highland doesn't come up, for me, in TMDb search results, after multiple attempts to get it to. I even tried its title in the original Danish, Højlandet, but got no TMDb result.

Philippe, curiously when I click on each of your two links, the results you mentioned don't appear - just other results do, for movies, but nothing, at all, at the person link. That second link results in the response: "There are no people that matched your query."

By the way, I access TMDb via Google Chrome.

How odd! Your answer wasn't there when I was typing, so it's unlikely to be a cache problem.

Anyway (to help Travis/someone make sense of this) I was using Firefox x64 67.0.4 on Windows 10 1903 x64 via a UK (business - shhhh!) ISP that is moderately filtered through a proxy. Also tried up-to-date: Chrome, IE, Edge and even Opera Portable - none worked.

Which just goes to show: Firefox FTW!!! grin

No problems with Firefox

The actors on The Highland doesn't show up either. Maybe there is a problem with the movie The Highland?

not for me

Oh - I think I just spotted the problem, for at least why this actor doesn't readily come up in search results: His profile page has him designated as "True" for Adult Actor - which "Adult" means a porn actor - which I gather he is not. Odds are that if you eliminate "True" for him that he may then readily appear in search results.

the problem was that justin tarantino set the movie The Highland to adult , I don't think it's a porn movie so I changed it and all should be okay now, please notice that the setting to adult:true is for porn only

That makes sense; I use FF as my browser of choice so the other searches weren't logged in. I guess TMDb hides "Adult" by default, and as I'm A Big Boy Now, I have removed that restriction. Well spotted!

That's right you can see adult content only when you set your profile to allow adult content

That explains, as my profile has always been left on the default "No" setting regarding adult content. Thus The Highland, as well as the actor in question, were blocked from appearing when I searched for them. Now they readily appear.

Wow hahah. My bad. But thank you all for your time to help me.
