The Movie Database Support

hello, im a new user on this site. I came to report a bad image i uploaded a little bit ago (Detective Conan), and to change the primary poster of Detective Conan, because the current image isn't of the anime but is still official, to it's previous association. I tried to find the "Report Bad Image" on Image view (for my own upload) but can't find it at all (tried clicking a bunch of buttons) and read the Community Guidelines. I followed the format of previous reports (but without using the report bad image button that i saw spoken about), but a few minutes later my post was deleted.

Apparently it is still open in discussion through my account but when i click on it it says the post was removed for violating guidelines (and that i may have been suspended), the only thing i can think of is that I used links but they were for posters already on this site, linked FROM this site. I used these because previous reports were asked which images they were talking about after but given no answer.

What do i do? I wont link again even from this site for reports, but I can't find the report bad image button, and i also don't want something against my account as i only made it today.

I don't know why your post was deleted, but to report an image, on the movie/tv page just click on the Report button on the top menu (third from the right, between Changes and Share). From there, you can specify the problem as a bad image, and we moderators do prefer when image reports include the URLs in the extra details, so we don't have to guess (if it's not an obvious duplicate/bad image).

I, too, had an entirely non-offensive, non-controversial - absolutely nothing in it that anyone would find anything even remotely a problem about or objectionable - Report unceremoniously deleted during the week before last;

Do you remember if you made two duplicate reports/reported the same thing twice? I can't think of another (good) reason why a non-trolling content issue report would be deleted. thinking

So all deleted topics get the same message? That seems like a mistake to me. Maybe we need a delete log for messages (in addition to the one that is planned for entries)?

Banana, the Report I submitted was a one-of, that was regarding an issue that didn't already have any Report submitted about it by anyone.

Yep, lineker: It appears that all deleted Report messages result in, if clicking on the link that remains in one's own personal Recent Discussions list, a "canned" screen response message that default-states the post was removed due to violating community guidelines and that the member may have been suspended.

@genplant29 you have piqued my curiosity. Do you still have the link to the deleted report?

The good news is that your report is not gone, we (mods) can still read deleted threads. I'll do both reports when I deal with your 07/24 report. (Probably in a week or two, I'm currently a little more than a month behind.)

Perhaps the mod who deleted my post saw wrong info on some "official" site somewhere.

That's a good reason to close a report, not delete it. @Travis could it be a bug?

Thanks so much, Banana!

[8/21/17 NOTE: I just now withdrew the Report I earlier posted, as well as the comments here regarding it as I discovered there was a problem about it - my mistake - that I hadn't previously noticed. All's well and no action of any kind is necessary.]

Ya, so when any of us mods delete a post that isn't our own, what happens to it is that it gets set with a not visible status. The main use for that until you brought it up here is for posts that were deleted because of a community violation. Hence the single message. I'll have to re-think some of this logic through but in the meantime, I'll tweak the message since there is actually more than a single reason for a post to be deleted.

As for who, it looks like it was Paszt. Mods, you can view the "Activity" on the post above and see that.

Here's what I will do this AM:

  • Change the hidden message
  • Allow mods to make these posts visible again

At some point in the future when I can set aside enough time, one of the most important features I need to build is the moderator communication tool. There's a lot of reasons why this is important but this is yet another example.

Thanks so much, Travis. That all sounds good. thumbsup_tone2
