There are so many people from IMDb here now, who are still continuing their random arguments - mostly TWD refugees. Would it be possible to give them a board of their own, where they can converse together, about whatever is bugging them, and give the genuine posters an easier time of reading the posts that are really about TWD. Just a hopeful suggestion. Probably not practical, but would be really appreciated.

General Chat at /discuss! Nice! But it shows the "last posted xx ago" for day the original thread was made, not when the last reply was (some secondss/minutes ago)

Yeah that's nice, personally would've preferred though if Travis would've simply redesigned the /discuss page into a menu with each section expanding and collapsing as desired instead of adding a new transition page sending you to the desired section.

You are awful demanding and somewhat rude for a new user to this site.

Yeah well you can't get things if you stay all quiet. Anyways, I was just expressing my opinion so cool down your titties.

There seems to be a feud brewing between the Beyonce board and the Hogan's Heroes board.

Hmmm

It looks like they live blog episodes of that stupid show on that board. We could just invade them and ruin it for them next time they have a live blog of an episode.

Just a thought.

I highly recommend doing exactly this! They seriously take that ancient show so seriously. Like wtf? You all are obsessed with a show about Nazi's and you're gonna come try to disrespect OUR queen. Puh-leez. So BASIC!

tl;dr - too much time on our hands and we were light-heartedly screwing with the beyonce board

They missed out on a good time. Live blogging is fun. Anyone who reads our posts can see that we don't really take that show (or ourselves, or anything) that seriously, it was just a fun thing for us to do together. We would not have given them a hard time about live blogging with us either, we were just trying to patch things up, which is also why I made a reconciliation thread that none of them chimed in on. Oh well. No matter.

The reason we were on the Hogan's Heroes board is bc we were friends on the IMDB TWD board (yes, THAT one). After that closed, we went to a different board where we roused some rabble and the mods went on an insane power trip so we called them Nazis and photoshopped a picture of an admin with a Hitler mustache whereupon we all got banned (surprise, surprise). Then we came here to the TWD board and Travis dropped the hammer on us pretty quick for being off topic and rousing even MORE rabble here (I was posting as thegoldenhoratio then). He kindly asked us to find a different board bc the TWD board is so popular. Feeling a bit like the Jews wandering the desert, we tried to think of somewhere we could go and settle in. We brain stormed and came up with the Hogan's Heroes board since we felt it represented our condition, a rag-tag group of misfits trying to outsmart Nazis (no, the mods here are not Nazis, they have been awesome to work with). The live blogs were the first times any of us had even watched the show.

We noticed the Beyonce board was particularly off topic so we thought they would be fun to play with by asking such honest questions as "Is TLC still mad that Beyonce left after Waterfalls?" and "Is she EVER going to lose that baby weight?" but for whatever reason the regulars there did not take kindly to these questions and immediately bullied us (and Marr) and called us all sorts of names to the point of making us not feel welcome. (I still don't know how TLC feels about the situation.)

Anyway, it was all in good fun.

Peace and love,

Hogie

lol

So that kind of behaviour got IMDb to quit their boards, eh? thinking

Not sure. I hadn't been on that board for 4 years before it closed. I went back to it two weeks before it closed just to say hi.

I am pretty sure liveblogs didn't make IMDb quite their boards, no.

But just a heads up, there are bigger message board problems than us. I've gotta get back to my real life, which is why I've asked for my account to be banned. I have no self control lol. But there are others out there on unemployment, disability, that for whatever reason don't leave the house ever and get way more emotionally and personally involved in these boards than I do. THOSE are the real problem. Get ready. There are a lot of them.

Personally, I would recommend developing an automated banning process that starts at warnings and ends at its most extreme with an IP ban. Automate it all through a user-generated reporting system. Phone number or facebook verification would also help. Let the chips fall where they may as far as user blow back goes but as this site grows, you won't have the man power to personally moderate like you do now.

That'll be $100.

Take care, Marr.

Of course, now that I already wrote a serious lengthy reply! laughing

Was TWD board the worst on IMDb as far as trolling? If Travis was able to make all the trolls from the notorious TWD board dissipate with one email then that's pretty freaking impressive.

@Col Needswiss said:

I thought they were fans of TWD that didn't want their precious show criticized so they spammed the board and buried the "real" posts. Although the posts themselves would not be considered troll posts, the purpose of those posts was to hijack the board and prevent other from enjoying it.

Lol. This is so off it's adorable.

No, TWD board from IMDb created a community of people (some love the show, some hate it, some are neutral - I would say most hate it) who became very close. There has been several real life relationships formed off that board, and even one marriage. Some people who met on that board are now best friends in real life. We have known each other in some capacity for 4-5 years. For some reason, this group of people that came to discuss TWD ended up being very compatible, despite their different views on the show. That board is just where we met, so it was a comfy place to hang around, it had nothing at all to do with the show.

I think, based on experience with my grandsons, that the 'Mods' they refer to are two categories. One- Allowed Modification files for different programs and games.. some allow and encourage users to develop modifications to help improve their games/programs. Other are more like hacks that bypass restrictions to modifications... those... you might not want to be made available on this site or you may be held responsible... Just a guess by me.

Spot on Jake. Good job.

No, that was the stated reason. The real one is these boards are used as platforms to criticize things, which can lead to lost sales (and has). Word of mouth can spread fast on the net and cause major damage to a TV show, actor, or movie. Think #oscars so white or what happened with the female ghostbusters movie recently.

Their thinking is they can avoid this negative fallout by preempting people from discussing anything in the first place. This is occurring with other sites as well, further showing that trolling is not the reason for the board's closure.

@HogieHero

I quite like you guys, i am not even sure why exactly, am not bothered to analyse. You are always on the prowl for new victims though, aren't you? But having a somewhat predatory disposition myself, I can't dislike you for that either.

Well, have fun!

Not so fast, wise guy. I saw you try to sic Marr on the cat. Not cool. But we do laugh at each other when one of us gets banned so it wouldn't have been a total loss. :)
