Welcome to the new talk area. This is a work in progress (so bare with us!) and something that has been designed from the ground up to mix in seamlessly with The Movie Database.
One of the biggest things this new system brings to the table is the ability to attach discussions right onto movies. This is important so we can try to streamline discussions about particular movies in one place.
There's no doubt going to be some issues here and there but Tender just wasn't cutting it from a community perspective so I made the call to move forward on this a few weeks ago.
There's some features you might expect that haven't been rolled out yet but it's built up enough for us to start using it full time. If you notice any issues make sure to let me know. API key requests will still go through Tender for now but this will eventually change as well.
Happy talking!

So its a Forum?
Any chance we can make comments about movies? And show those on the movie page?

Yes, but also a lot more now.
Already can. Pop over to a movie and click the "Talk" link. It takes you to a talk area for the movie. Like here, for the Avengers.

Ahh got it, very nice.
Would be good to see the comments inline at the bottom of the movie page at some point. I think a lot of people will miss the small "talk" link. Last.fm does something very similar with comments.

I like this. Will collections get the talk link too eventually? Also, are all the old forum posts lost? I'd like to salvage the definitive collections thread because it was informative.

Yes. Just pushed this live.
Nope, not lost. You can still find things if you got the link. I think the one you are after is right here.

Nice updates.
Yesterday I think I had browser caching issues. I modified my posts but Chrome kept showing the original post. Only if I loaded the page in an incognito window would it show the modified post.
I am trying to copy and paste my collections thread to the new talk area but I get a content is suspected of being spam warning. I suspect because it is full of Wikipedia and *.themoviedb.org URLs.

Interesting. What I can hook up tomorrow morning is the ability for trusted users to skip the check entirely. I'll let you know once you can give it another try. Thanks for letting me know.

It finally went through at 8:53 PM EST :P
Not sure what I did different other than hyperlinking all the urls with the message formatting syntax.

Will there be a preview message option for Talk Area posts?
Also, just an idea for Movie and Collections pages: beneath the Similar Movies panel (or similar placement for Collections pages), place another panel consisting of the most recent General Talk Area posts for the particular movie/collection (Eg. The Avengers Collection displays the most recent posts from The Avengers Collection General Talk Area). This might instigate more talk area discussion, and if there are any specific collection guideline discussions, users who neglect to check the talk area first will be more likely to see them.

None planned but I created a new ticket for it.
It's been mentioned, ya. Probably will at some point. Here's the ticket.
