Raymond Thiry is a Dutch actor. He started out in theatre in 1987 with his own theatre group Alex d'Electrique, a well know group and very successful at different festivals and in theatre all over the Netherlands and Germany.

After being in several prime time TV series, he stars in 2006 in the art house film 'Langer Licht' by David Lammers and receives a prestigious Golden Calf Nomination at the Dutch Filmfestival. In 2009 he wins this same award for his brilliant work in 'Oorlogswinter' (Winter in Wartime) by director Martin Koolhoven, which was a huge box office success.

After his award his agenda fills up fast with all sorts of characters in Feature Film as well as TV. He impressed in the Dutch Crime series Penoza and feature films Sonny Boy and Lotus (release autumn 2011).

At the end of 2011 Raymond will hit the theaters again, together with star actress Sylvia Hoeks in the play Poskantoor, based on the book Post Office by Charles Bukowski. In 2012 Raymond plays the main character in the feature films 'Black Out' and 'Toegetakeld door de liefde'.

Raymond Christian Thiry (Amsterdam, 29 september 1959) is een Nederlandse acteur. Hij is ook bekend onder de namen Raymond Spannet en Alex Spannet.

Carrière

Thiry speelde vanaf 1987 in Alex d'Electrique totdat deze toneelgroep uiteenviel in 2008. Bij het grote publiek werd hij vooral bekend door zijn rol als Van Rossum in Roos en haar Mannen, onderdeel van Villa Achterwerk. Voor de hoofdrol in de speelfilm Langer licht werd hij in 2006 genomineerd voor het Gouden Kalf voor de beste acteur. In 2009 won hij een Gouden Kalf voor zijn rol in Oorlogswinter. Vanaf 2010 speelde hij Luther in de televisieserie Penoza. Tijdens het Nederlands Film Festival 2013 was hij te zien in de film A Long Story. In 2015 speelde hij de vader van André Hazes in de film Bloed, zweet en tranen en duikt hij op in de televisieserie Zwarte tulp. Ook speelt hij musketier D'Artagnan in Code M.

Thiry was in 2018 als Ian te zien in de televisieserie Nieuwe buren en als verzetsstrijder in de film Bankier van het verzet. In 2019 gaf hij gestalte aan het personage John Zwart in de serie Undercover, een rol die hij nogmaals speelde in de film Ferry uit 2021.
