Happy birthday and R.I.P. to the Godfather of Soul.

I have been a fan since I was 11 or 12, saw him in person when I was 13, I worked my way down to the stage & he touched my hand ( as a 13-year-old, I was mesmerized). To get to the point, I was browsing YouTube & found a video with him & another legend (Luciano Pavarotti, who I have also seen in person) singing 'It's A Man's World' in a concert in 2002. It is so cool!

I've always liked James Brown (ditto Pavarotti who you mentioned, brat).

Very coincidentally, day before yesterday there was a 30 mins. mini-documentary about James Brown on t.v. during afternoon hours, when I briefly had the t.v. on and was channel surfing. I watched it for about 10 mins. "It's a Man's World" just so happened to be heard during the part I watched.

Also coincidentally, I just so happened to be listening to Pavarotti's "Ave Maria" 3 or 4 days ago. Small world, as both singers got mentioned here just after they'd each been on my mental radar.

Hey gen, I'm curious about how the site posts times on a person's comments. Is the time listed next to the date in their time zone or mine?

Whatever time you show for anyone's post(s) is the time that person posted per your own local time zone's time stamp. Thus, as I'm (on the US' East Coast) 3 hours earlier time zone than where you (in the US' Northwest) are, I posted my comment, above, at 4:45a.m. - which is 1:45a.m. your time. So, you should show the time stamp for my post, above, as being 1:45a.m. (I, on the other hand, show a time stamp of 4:45a.m. for that comment.) Likewise, I show your comment, immediately above, with a 2:46p.m. time stamp. You should show 11:46a.m. for that comment.

Thanks for the clarification. I know that you are 3 hours ahead & I checked the site around midnight, so I figured they must use my time zone but I wasn't sure.

Funky, happy birthday, not to Jimmy Castor nor Isaac Hayes, but to "the Godfather of Soul," legendary bandleader, singer and perhaps the most sampled recording artist in history, James Brown. He was born today in 1933 and passed away on Christmas Day, 2006.

The funk lives on!
