Discuss Django Unchained

Stephen's reaction when Candy got shot was hilariously over the top. I know it was to show the level of sycophancy and belly up dog Stephen was but I can't help but think that it was just a bit too hammed up. I mean, I know Sam Jackson was never known for having much emotional range but com'on now.

You know, I wish Travis would make it possible to paste an image right in the text box, instead of having to use a complicated website that will maybe leave a link to the one image we want.

I get the impression it would put additional demand on his server and add a layer of complexity to moderation, but I feel you!

BTW them's your words, not mine (the bold type)

And let's read them in context also, rather than pretending that they're a single sentence: "It's a non sequitur leap to watch this scene(especially given the overall context it takes place in. Earlier, we saw Django gun down both the man who tortured Brunhilda and several of his associates a few scenes after this)and then jump to the conclusion "Tarantino is saying that white supremacy is a good thing"

And I hate to say it, but DiCaprio gives a mind-blowing performance within this very context that made even yours truly think, Well, goddamn, maybe we should all just stay in our places as black people and not revolt, like those two tried to.

Yeah... Anyone who starts thinking "That dude from Titanic played a slaveholder so charmingly, slaves should have never revolted, and we perhaps shouldn't have had a Civil War to free those who were held in chains" after seeing a scene in a movie probably needs psychiatric help. This is tantamount to saying "Mads Mikkelsen played a cannibalistic serial murderer so charismatically on Hannibal, I started rethinking the idea that murder and eating human flesh isn't such a cool thing to do"

Umm... you know what it is you do.
