I was thinking that if they were really this common down there, it would be humans who would be endangered instead of the gators.

1.25 million gators to about 21 million humans. They largely remain in the Everglades and seldom attack humans so I guess the people are pretty safe.

Not in this movie. I lost count after a while. And the humans made so many stupid mistakes that I was rooting for the gators by the time it was halfway through. Did anyone else think this movie was a ripoff of The Shallows?

I live in the Tampa Bay area and, although there are PLENTY of gators, not half as much as shown in this film..plus these gators were FEROCIOUS. Was hoping they'd explain why they were so vicious, but alas...it never way. Definitely a "Jaws" for Millenials!

Not as many as in the Lemoyne swamps of RDR 2. I swear you can't step one foot in the grass without having to tiptoe around 78 million gators or alligator snapping turtles. I wish it were as easy to find a moose or rock pigeon.

Fun premise, unbelievably terrible execution. Characters were horribly annoying and sooooo stupid. I really only cared about the dog, and maybe poor lovesick Wayne. Everyone else was either an idiot or a POS.
Also, I was only half-watching (once I saw how bad this would be), so I never understood why there was a giant tube going from the lake into the house. WTF? And just had to laugh at this lead girl getting bitten on the leg and both arms (including the famous death spiral of a gator), yet she looked like she only handled a fussy pussy cat. She should have been a stump by the end of the movie. And how did the father lose an arm and NOT bleed out?
Shocked this was an Aja film. He's usually so much better. The action set pieces were well done, albeit not especially suspenseful.

What was wrong with the main character and her dad? I thought the scene explaining their frosty relationship was nicely done, particularly as their relationship was key to the film.
It was explained it was a storm drain.
Yeah, you gotta suspend disbelief for those bits. There was also the scene where the dad was dead but was resuscitated and then carried on like normal!
I liked it and thought it was better than Mirrors.

I live in Florida and I was wondering why these gators were so ferocious. Most gators I encounter are terrified of humans and will generally leave you alone unless you provoke them. I guess they can be ferocious if they are protecting their eggs. Weren't there eggs in that storm drain? That still doesn't explain why there were so many outside of the house. I guess it's a fun turn off your brain film but nothing special. I live off the coast of the Atlantic Ocean and those bull sharks are much more aggressive than Alligators. Sharks and Spiders are about the only two things I'm cautious of here. The other day I was raking some leaves in the backyard and a black racer snake scurried out. These things are scared of humans also.

Black racers are all over Florida. They are far more terrified of us than we are of them, and are totally harmless to humans.
I'm still wondering why a regular average house has a storm drain the size of a big city sewer...
