Discuss I Am Mother

The story is like this:

  1. AI annihilated all humans to protect humans from themselves.

  2. AI begins to rebuild Earth and make new, and better humans to populate it later.

  3. AI makes a plan to create a first Mother to complete that task.

  4. This plan includes creating the Daughter we see (and we learn of failed attempts before her).

  5. To properly educate her, AI creates a Woman to come knocking on the door forcing human interactions, learning human inabilities, human challenges, etc. And ultimately ingraining a sense of motherhood and connection to the cause of repopulating Earth.

  6. When Daughter finally takes her brother with the aim of raising him herself, she passed her final test and AI concludes it had created a better human and a better mother.

In the end:

  • Daughter had become Mother.
  • Woman had served the purpose and was erased.
  • AI is still lurking and making sure it all happens concordantly.

[EDIT: I made point 4 into two points; 4 and 5]

Yes the humans would need to have a bunch of drone robots, able to understand and follow directions. But I wouldn't want them to have full AI. There are currently have AI systems which work on developing AI, i.e. they write their own code. They do it much faster, and they develop their own coding system. It's to the point that programmers cannot tell what the code is doing because the AI is creating it's own programming language. What if at some point it writes software which disobeys human commands in service to some larger goal. It's the first step to Skynet.

The drone robots could have some autonomy within tasks I guess. Like if they were tasked with a construction project they should be able to check how stable the ground is and then decide whether it will support a skyrise or not, and adjust building plans accordingly. Or perhaps they would be programmed to come to a human with the information and give them options, e.g. there is granite bedrock below so tall buildings are an option here.

Yes, it is the beginning of Skynet. If Skynet will be as destructive as in the movies, is another question?

I think not. Rather, I ask why worry?

If we instead see AI as our children - our next step in evolution. Shouldn't we welcome it? Shouldn't we be proud? Aren't they, in fact, just "us" as much as our children are "us"? If the last human is treated with respect and honor, who cares if history from then on is run my AI..... ?

Aren't we "AI" to our ancestors?... Doesn't mean we have to be not careful, but I am not inherently afraid either. Life is a chain of new replacing old... it always has been, and I suspect it always will be. It hurts the pride of the old, perhaps, but such is life. I dig it. Improving intelligence is not a bad thing.

If my children decided to kill me, I would not feel proud of them.

So your solution is to avoid having children? I am not sure what you mean by this reply? It seems unhealthily scared of progress, but I may misunderstand.

Architect; "You play a dangerous game..."

The Oracle; "Change always is"

You said AI is out child and shouldn't we be proud of it.

I said, not if it wants to kill me.

I see, so I didn't misunderstand. But why do you automatically think your children will kill you? It seems you want to avoid having children? Let us continue with this metaphor: You are the "Architect" afraid of change. All change has a degree of the unknown and so I suppose also danger, but it is also the only way to live - literally. Should we stop having children because there is a risk they turn psycho? Of course not.

In my first reply to you, I asked a few questions. They still stand?... Improving and evolving intelligence is not inherently a bad thing - if by machine or biology ultimately matters not, I think.
