I had no problem with the ghostbusters being female. I'm not one of those who think women can't be funny. The women in this film weren't funny but there were plenty of men in the film too, and they weren't funny either. Hell, 3 of the original ghostbusters were in it and they weren't funny! The problem was with the whole approach and the writing.

The ghostbusters themselves were annoying and eccentric . Look back at the original film and they're actually quite subdued. It's not the funniest film in the world, but when it is the humor comes naturally, it's not forced.

YOU NAILED IT SIR...ON A SIDE NOTE,I AM SO IN LOVE WITH KATE MCKINNON.

Kate McKinnon with three male team members would've been more effective.

Lucky you & luckily for me I didn't have to pay. Fortunately. I stopped the borrowed BluRay part way thru the damn movie.

I liked it, if only because of Melissa McCarthy. That woman can do no wrong.

I am total opposite to you. She does everything wrong in my eyes. She is just annoying.

It's a curious boy's thing Ghostbusters, the concept of Ghostbusting doesn't appeal to female audiences who are into chick flicks for such a large scale investment to be profitable.

I've defended this movie since it was released in theaters. Granted it pales in comparison to the original, but this one had its moments..plus its SO pretty to look at (love the use of colors, especially during the climax). The 3D also really pops out! McKinnon was the funniest, but had the least to do of the 4 main Ghostbusters (for shame)

Hold up hold up hold up hold the ever loving fuck up! You defended this garbage but slammed Captain Marvel and those that spent their hard earned money to watch it? How in the name of the incel gods did you think that up! I'm rarely ever shocked on the internet but by god you've done it!

CAPTAIN MARVEL WAS GOOD.GHOSTBUSTERS WAS GOOD ONLY WHILE MCKINNON WAS ONSCREEN.THE END.

I think Sony knew they had a turkey on their hands so they had to get in front of it the best way they knew how since it was too late to shelve it. I think this controversy was manufactured and was an attempt to shame people into seeing the movie. "You don't want to be a misogynist do you? Then support this movie!" was the implication I got.

That certainly wouldn't surprise me.

From my experience, most people who believe "all women are oppressed," "all men hate movies starring women," "we live in a patriarchy," etc. aren't interested in opposing viewpoints, even from women.

It's odd. I never seem to meet these people in real life. They only seem to be on the internet.

Exactly, although I have seen it on the Internet from someone I knew in "real life".

McKinnon with two or three male Ghostbusters would've been more interesting, it's always better to go with a boy/girl cast if you want a female lead.

Hopefully the 2020 GB movie gets it right. I've always said instead of going ALL female, maybe do GB3 first, introduce 1 or 2 characters from THIS movie (say, Erin, Kristin Wiig's character or better yet, Abby, Melissa McCarthy's character since she believed in ghosts more), then SPIN THEM OFF! Rebooting it the way they did was a BIG misstep.

It was never going to live up to expectations no matter what. Not horrible, on par with GB2 or the Real Ghost Busters cartoon, which isn't saying much. Very few sequels and remakes match up to the originals. If there is a GB2020 I think it should be from the POV of the ghosts. That would be different.

It was stylistically different from what's gone before, so much so it was incongruent.

A nice idea, although Beetlejuice did get there first with seeing things from the ghosts POV.

I'm not sure I was ever on board with the whole 'GB2 being terrible' thing. I didn't see a problem with it.

I'm a woman, and I really just have no desire to see it. I like all of the actors in it, and I don't blame them if the film is terrible.

I thought all of the "You don't want to see this movie because you hate women!" accusations were ridiculous. Same with "Men don't want to watch movies starring women!" Last time I checked, men watched movies like Alien and Terminator 2.

Sometimes a movie is just bad, or people aren't interested in seeing it.

It's hypocritical calling audiences sexist when they're doing the same thing, cast & crew seem.like man haters. Story and character dictates casting and gender.
