Discuss Ghostbusters

I had no problem with the ghostbusters being female. I'm not one of those who think women can't be funny. The women in this film weren't funny but there were plenty of men in the film too, and they weren't funny either. Hell, 3 of the original ghostbusters were in it and they weren't funny! The problem was with the whole approach and the writing.

The ghostbusters themselves were annoying and eccentric . Look back at the original film and they're actually quite subdued. It's not the funniest film in the world, but when it is the humor comes naturally, it's not forced.

Maybe the hate towards the actresses was something superficial like half of them being loud and overweight, none of them are sex symbols. Anything I see Melissa McCarthy on the cover on I'm not interested in the film at all or I just don't care about her.

No, I don't think it's anything to do with superficiality. The reason I don't like Melissa McCarthy is nothing to do with her weight. I don't like her because she's just annoying and not funny. Loudness on the other hand isn't superficial. That's a style of comedy that the actor and filmmakers are choosing.

I think you'll find it has a little to do with her weight I don't like her either but I'm at least honest enough with you to say that watching a fat unfunny woman on my TV for two hours isn't what I want out of my television. Stop pretending to be decent you're extremely transparent and you're not fooling anyone.

Young boys want to see sexy action heroines of slender built woman.

Or anyone who just doesn't want to vomit on their TV.

Being obese can limit you to certain kinds of roles.

While I'm not gonna lie, I would probably rather the sexytime with Chris Hemsworth than Miss McCarthy, I don't want my tv to always depict some fantasy land where every human being is crafted to perfection. I find it harder to engage with the film or show if that's all I see. I prefer it to reflect real life more. And the main reason I want to watch Ghostbusters is to laugh. I didn't watch the original because I wanted to bone Dan Aykroyd or Bill Murray. Well... maybe Bill Murray.

Not sure the likes of any of the actresses inspired huge numbers to watch it.
