Discussão Deadpool 2

Anyone else worried about this movie? Trust me, im super excited for it. Im just concerned about the tone of the movie. Ive heard its going to be a combination of rush hour and john wick. Totally different styles and tones. Im concerned how it will all blend together. Fox seems to be allowing creative freedom and i hope it doesnt back fire on this movie. The first was excellent and people are

Also with the rumors of black cassidy, juggernaught, cable, domino, negasonic, colossus, etc etc all being in the movie, im fearful it will pull from the deadpool character and become more like origins (which i actually really like but have only seen once when it first came out without any comic knowledge so i refuse to watch again to spoil it because i know ill hate it). It will also be trying to set up for x force. How will fourth wall breaks work with a larger ensemble? I just think this movie is trying to do too much. I have hope and am overall optimistic, just a few concerns.

I didn't really care enough about the vulgar Deadpool to be concerned for its sequel. I mean, it was amusing and all. Once they lost the original film's director, IMO they had reason to be worried.

I think I have had my Deadpool fill with two Deadpool films, an X-Force movie, and an animated series. I'm not really in love with the character as other fans. He's kind of a rip off of Deathstroke, only with juvenile humor.

X-Men: Apocalypse was a disaster because Bryan Singer crammed too many characters into the movie, which is why many of them, including Psylocke and Angel, had barely any development beyond their powers.

I guess we'll wait to see if Deadpool 2 made the same mistake.

Part of the reason the first film was so good was because it was being developed for 11 years. They had plenty of time to hone and perfect it while it was in development hell. This one was probably written very quickly. Will we have a case of difficult second album here? I hope not.

I doubt it will be as good as the first. Hard to recapture the same feel in most sequels.

Agreed.

Yep.

This follows news that New Mutants got delayed because of poor test screenings and reshoots.

Not looking too good.

the running length makes me worried. I think I read it would be around 1 hour and 40 minutes. For a film that's introducing several new characters it sounds like they will not have any development at all. This will probably be a mildly entertaining sequel about the same as the Kingsman sequel. I don't think critics will love it.

Runtime is 119 minutes (1:59) so it's not short by any means. I didn't really have any strong feelings about the first movie, other than wondering why the bad guy was even considered a threat. I hope those that want to see it enjoy it, but my guess is that most reviewers will find the movie "overstuffed."

I do hate how the only "reviews" coming out so far are tweets from entertainment bloggers, who aren't what I'd ever call professional critics who practice stifling their inner fanboy to focus on whether or not a movie works as an actual narrative. When the embargo lifts in a few days we'll see what people are really saying.

We may never find out. The negative press could already have swayed critical opinion. As critics are often swayed one way or another. Sometimes critics can be just as untrustworthy.

Critics are just stating their opinion.

I think Cinemascore is the best site for ratings.

And opinion can be swayed. It's a psychological, domino effect. Some films have fallen victim to this. Some have profited immensely. Is Titanic really that great?

Sometimes I trust critics, sometimes I don't.

While I don't often agree with Gorman, in this case I'd look at the Cinemascore as well. That is not an aggregation of critic scores--like Metacritic and Rottentomatoes--but rather audience surveys after the first weekend of a movie's release. They talk to actual filmgoers and produce an audience score which, imo, is much more valuable to the average viewer than what Richard Roeper or some random dude from IGN thinks. Also take it with a grain of salt, though, because the folks most likely to view a film on its opening weekend are the hardcore fans. (The Force Awakens got an "A" and every one of the prequels got an "A-".)

I haven't heard of Cinemascore before. Looks interesting, I'll check it out in future. Thanks.

It's ok, guys. Relax, relax. Everything is ok. It's currently at 83% on Rotten Tomatoes. A lot of the critics who like it are saying it's better than the first, more ambitious. Looks like that blogger guy was just trying to kick up a storm and get a bit of attention.

Let's crack out the fine wine.

I'm not worried because

a) I don't care what the score on RT/IMDB/whatever - including TMDB - is. I can make my own mind up on a film. I loved both The Legend of Tarzan and Winter's Tale - if I listened to the critics and/or popular opinion I'd have given both films a miss.

b) I saw Deadpool 2 last night and it was great.
