Diskuti Dunkirk

I went into this movie with mixed feelings because I really love Christopher Nolan's work, but I'm not a huge fan of war movies. I ended up being very pleasantly surprised with the film. It didn't feel like the typical war movie. I loved how we just jumped right into the action. Nolan didn't waste anytime setting the scene, which I think was wise. Any person with a high school education knows the setup of WW2. So I don't believe there was any need to explain why they were there or what the circumstances were.

Additionally, Nolan is just amazing at creating sequences of suspense. He did an amazing job with his Batman trilogy in creating these patiently suspenseful edge of your seat moments, and he did it again with Dunkirk. I can't think of any other current filmmaker that does that as well as him.

So overall I thought Dunkirk was a very good movie. I actually enjoyed it more than Nolan's last film Interstellar, and it was definitely the best movie I've seen so far this summer.

No, it wasn't the best movie.

Towers above all the cartoonish superhero comic book rock dwayne johnson non-sense we've been subjected too for the past couple of months.

wonderperson, furious racer, spiderkid, etc... all look like video game exposition scenes compared to how cinematic Dunkirk is... a real summer movie for once!

Definitely agree. Many of these movies are just a joke. Dunkirk actually reminded me about why I like movies.

TMDB is fast becoming a backstage pilgrimage with all this one directioner gushing going on here... Also "furious racer" was released on April 4th so of course it wasn't a "real summer movie" idiot. Get your seasons right. And Duncuck was garbage for idiots.

haha... i didn't get your pop culture references as I'm over 35 years old... only heard of that fellow after the film due to the aparent beiber-esque envy he seems to inspire, despite having a very minor role.... relax, he was only in a couple of scenes and was not consequencial to the film...

my only criticism of Dunkirk is that is wasn't more bloody, but i suppose that was a compromise to get financing by keeping a low age-rating...

as to the release date pedantry, who cares? Dunkrik isn't just the best summer movie this year, it's arguably the best film of the year so far... and better than most films from last year as well...

I was left feeling a little disappointed by it but only because at times, the pace did drag on a little.

Otherwise, the story was told very well and from the multiple perspectives for the one situation. It was definitely better than so many other films released this year but to go as far as suggesting that it is the best film of the year so far, I just can't bring myself to do that.

A solid effort and worthwhile, nonetheless.

Because it's a war film that makes it the best lol **** off, I watched Duncuck and yes it was bloodless, boring and sentimental garbage. The worst film of the year along with the emoji movie I paid the ticket because of the over praise I kept getting bombarded with I won't be making that mistake again.

Of course you can't bring yourself to say it because you're not patriotic sheep I'm actually quite impressed you have an original thought that's a complement.

Well, seeing as we're discussing relative value what movie was better than Dunkirk this summer (so far)? Or even this year? Would love to hear your opinions...

Maybe there will be a better movie released later this year (I would love for that to happen), but the fact is there hasn't been any so far...

It's by far the most cinematic and visually and aurally appealing... the characters felt real, the drama intense and the sentimentality at the end was well earned as the movie had enough emotional and moral ambiguity leading up to it.

Can you stop with the worship ffs yes it has good cinematography but the English channel is not "aurally appealing" lol what a dork and the characters are paper thin fodder.

well, in war time real soliders are paper thin fodder, do you think they sit around talking about their feelings and daddy issues like in most hollywood movies? the sound in this movie is amazing... must watch/hear in a good cinema...

just name one movie that was better this year.. go ahead, don't be shy... we won't judge you... we're all nice people here...

Let me just clarify my good cinematography remark... Yes the cinematography was good but you can film dog mess with a good cam you'll still wouldn't be able to polish a turd, the technology on the film is wasted on a barren, dull setting.

You've been subjected to nothing. No one forces you to watch anything against your will.

Settle down there, Beavis. There will be people who are hard to entertain, easy to entertain and in between. Just because someone rated the movie highly doesn't make them a patriotic sheep. It just means that the movie had more value in their eyes than it did for me. Nothing wrong, either way.

As I've argued many times before, if we all liked the same things, then we'd only need one film, one band, one book and that would make it a boring world.

Just who are you calling 'Beavis' Butthead.
