Typical capitalist pig! The brothers had it coming though, being as difficult to work with as they were. Ray was more brutal to them than he should have ever been though. Cutting them out of their ONE PERCENT? smh.

what pissed me off is keaton making SPOTLiGHT a movie about exposing sex abuse after he worked with alejandro gonzalez inarritu who signed the polanski petition

alot of people have said that this movie pissed them off because of how Ray Kroc screwed over the McDonalds Brothers. I don't see it that way. He took their name and product and made it in the billion dollar business it is today. He got tired of them fighting him for every little thing because they wanted to stick to their high moral values. At the end of the day it was business, nothing more. Having said that, I never eat at McDonald's because their food is garbage.

without Kroc it would be just small local business, he did really all the hard work with expansion, he had to deal with them being difficult, disagreeing with anything making business more profitable (I guess if it would be traded company, they would not be even allowed to disagree with his ideas which would bring more profit to shareholders just because of some old values)

so yes, you feel kinda sad for them in the end but they got pretty sweet reward for doing nothing over the time, they invented great system and got paid for it one time fee same as was their invention, other than that they were just cashing profit from franchise and only new thing they were doing was disagreeing with all new ideas which is not really admirable. Sure cheating them of 1% royalties was bad, but what else is there to dislike about Kroc? none of the parties were perfect, that's life...

Ray Kroc is the reason McDonalds taste so bad today. Did you see how delicious the burgers looked when the brothers were cooking them? If you go to McDonalds today they give you some paper thin burger that looks like it has been thrown against the wall. The food is absolutely putrid. I'll take a small unknown restaurant with delicious food over McDonalds any day. McDonalds is not that cheap anymore either. I think the Quarter Pounder and Bic Macs are going for a little under 5 dollars now. You can get a quality hoagie for that price.

Dont eat in MCDonalds myself. Very, very rare I eat out! I eat at home almost every day of the year.

In the UK I believe that MCD. have tried to promote healthier products on the menu. I always think though, what did they make theor products with back in the days before the healthy eating bandwagon got going about 15 or so years ago now.

You would never have got to eat those burgers either way, not now that Ray has reduced standards. And, not while the brothers were in-charge because it would have never grown out of a little area in Cali. That is what's so interesting about this film; the lines are very blurred.

ya know who uses the old MacDonalds system now I noticed after watching this? Chick Fil A, and you have to admit that's a great sandwich

Chik Fil A is pretty good. They give you a thick piece of a chicken. It's just a piece of breaded chicken with 2 pickles on it and no condiments. If you want any condiments they will give you a packet. The only quality fast food restaurants are Chik Fil A, Hardees/Carls Jr, and Arbys. Taco Bell is a good cheap alternative if you know how to order. McDonalds, Burger King, Wendys, Sonic, Whattaburger, and most of the others are all garbage.

I don't think McD tastes bad and I think it serves its purpose pretty perfectly. If I want a great burger there are places I can go for that and it tastes amazing, or I can make my own. McD burgers aren't as good but they are still ok and it is the speed and reliability of them which is their biggest asset and what makes them worthwhile. I know a place that makes amazing burgers but I have to go in and sit down, wait for the waiter, and then wait 15 minutes for it to get cooked. It is worth it, but sometimes you need to pick something up on a journey and McD is great for that.

p.s. to me the biggest hero was the guy who wrote that self help thing Ray Krok used to listen to that kept him so motivated!

Well, the movie didn't piss me off, but yeah, Ray Kroc was more like Ray Cock.

But it's not enough to keep me from enjoying the occasional Big Mac.

Yeah, I liked how they didn't sugar coat it and turn him into a great guy. So I guess in that sense the movie didn't piss me off. But Ray Kroc did.

Well i think this movie gives me one more reason to avoid McDonalds.

Oh? Maybe you missed the part where Ray C*CK opened a McDonald's across the street from the original restaurant...promptly putting the brothers out of business.

Yes, I can see how some argue "business is business"...and without C*ck, McDonald's would've just been a smalltime local eatery that would've just died out over time, but at the same time, REAL business men like C*ck are con-men and pieces of garbage! Its a known fact a SUCCESSFUL business man has to have a cold heart to succeed..its like 'Game of Thrones' out there! If you strive to have morals in business, you'll end up DEAD...and likely penniless. I feel very bad for the McD brothers...I can't even imagine running such a jewel of a restaurant, then eventually having your OWN NAME bought out by a swindler! I seldom go to McDonald's anymore, but just got several BOGO coupons in the mail (GOOD ones, like BOGO Big Mac's and Chicken Sandwiches)..think I'm trashing them!
