Discuss Snowden

... I would have guessed as much. I liked it and thought it was a well made film, but a typically left wing perspective concentrating on people having their feels hurt with almost no mention of the purpose and positive aspects of deep surveillance. Snowden hurt the reputation and standing of the United States even though they aren't and weren't doing much more than most if not all industrialized nations in terms of spying and surveillance.

I finally got around to watching it. I enjoyed it a lot more than the Julian Assange film. Snowden's story is actually interesting.

I haven't seen it yet, but I want to. And some would say that since this is the United States, Snowden was simply taking advantage of this being one of the greatest countries in the world by blowing the whistle the way he did -- even if the US isn't doing much more than the other nations.

Snowden signed a contract, made a promise to keep the secrets secret, and then broke that promise. That aspect of this whole thing bothers me a lot. Were Americans harmed by the actions of the feds? I doubt it.

Not "left" wing. The secrets Snowden uncovered were primarily Obama Administration abuses, and we saw how the Deep State and Intelligence Community is attempting to sabotage President Trump. Snowden is not a particularly sophisticated guy politically, but the network he was trying to bring down is the the backbone of the Left Wing State.

I'm talking about Oliver Stone's angle on the material in that it's portrayed as only bad and not having any possible justification - when I say " left wing perspective."

And of course, it's the deep state that we have to worry about especially since Obama is pulling the deep state strings behind the scenes.

The image of Oliver Stone as a "Left Winger" is grossly overrated. Stone produced a wonderfully pro-Russian documentary on the Ukraine that exposes the Globalists role in initiating the coup and then ensuring the media lied about everything that happened afterwards and Stone himself has gone on record bemoaning the influence of the Jewish media. Stone is a nationalist and a natural ally of the Trump/Bannon/Miller agenda.

I'm talking about this film which is most definitely favoring the liberal perspective on the Snowden leaked information. "Stone is a nationalist ?" Who would be most likely to say this, a liberal or a nationalist?: “Snowden is a hero" (Stone said it.) I've heard some say he's a lefty, a socialist, and even a communist. He could very well be a left leaning libertarian.

LOL. You do realize these "abuses" by the Obama administration were only possible because of the Patriot act which was passed under the Bush administration. Trying to pass off the Big Brother notion as a liberal agenda is laughable. Shame on the Obama administration for doing absolutely nothing to get rid of the Patriot act but to place the blame on the left because the Obama administration abused the "liberties" the Patriot act afforded the government is ridiculous.

Yep, DHS and Patriot Act were both made under Shrub. Obama was merely a team player and played both sides like a champ. Of course now it seems Trump has been co-opted by the neocons so we have more war to look forward to.

The United States is the new Nazi Germany. The level of indoctrination of its citizens is equaled only by those living under other fascist regimes. Snowden only proved what most of the world already felt in their hearts.

I see American nationalists, and then leftists ranging from butthurt Clinton and Sanders supporters to wannabe ANTIFA. ALL the violence, damage, and unrest is being caused by leftists. That's not even debatable anymore.

The thing is... both sides are equally "patriotic". Hardly any American seems to care about all the people they've been bombing for decades under highly questionable motives. The lack of self-criticism compared to the atrocities done is nauseating.

PRISM was a cancer that had to be irradiated. All Snowden did was saved America from letting it go too far.

You really think it stopped? It's best to simply secure yourself. Within this context, switching to open source software is an obvious first step.

Skynet will probably mark you as a potential terrorist for this though. I hope enough Americans wake up before we find out the hard way.

Try reading The Assassination Complex as a US citizen. I dare you, because you probably haven't and should.

The White House’s publicly available policy standards state that lethal force will be launched only against targets who pose a “continuing, imminent threat to U.S. persons.” In the documents, however, there is only one explicit mention of a specific criterion: that a person “presents a threat to U.S. interest or personnel.”

That definitely includes me by now. In fact everybody should want to be on that list if that's the criterion. This madness needs to stop!

The US is possibly the worst country in the world right now, while winning first prize for best shined turd.

Hmmmm, I don't see anything like "patriotism" on the left at-all. What I see is identity politics run amok and an obsession with the idea that they lost and can't live with that fact.

As for the nation building and bombing, that's nothing new. The US has been at "war" non-stop since the 50's. I was against shock & awe, etc. all along and GW Bush will always be "the worst president ever" in my book. I don't believe many Americans really feel much pain or guilt over any of it. They're too detached from it.

As for PRISM, I have no doubt it's still in play and more. A buddy of mine was at the Keystone Pipeline demonstrations and it was common knowledge there that when people would have their phones freeze up occasionally it meant that their phones were being accessed. If you flew a drone over where the attendant military were set up, it got shot down. There's no way the NSA would give up the kind of access PRISM provides. If anything, they renamed it and it got better.
