Is it just me or is this movie starting to look terrible?
I love Marvel, I've seen nearly all of their last 10 movies or so in theaters, but I am getting a really bad feeling about Captain Marvel. They are really leaning into this "strong female character" virtue signaling and that's always a bad sign as evidenced by Ghostbusters, it tells me they can't sell the movie on just being good, they have to try and imply if you don't see it or aren't excited about it you must hate women. The images I've seen look blah and Brie Larson just does not seem like a good fit for this role let alone what she's been saying on social media.
Conversely I never got this feeling with the Wonder Woman movie, and of course movies like Atomic Blonde or Mad Max Fury Road weren't sold on female empowerment even though both films had fantastic female characters and could have easily tried to hype that aspect.
There's a new saying "Get Woke Go Broke" which means that whenever a movie/show/book tries to sell you on how it's so pro woman/gay/trans/minority/whatever while not selling the story or characters then it's pretty much confirmed to be trash and no one buys it. I really hope I'm wrong but I fear the MCU is going to fall into this trap and go the way of Disney Star Wars.

The fact that it will make a billion is a testement to the quality of the 20 or so films that preceded it. The fact is, this was the worst MCU film to date. I don't enjoy saying that, it's just a fact.
I will make a couple of predictions. Both the Black Panther and Captain Marvel sequels will be the the first MCU sequels since Age of Ultron to make less than their predecessors. In fact I think that the Doctor Strange sequel and Far from Home will make more than both of those. Doctor Strange mainly because he was great in Infinity War, not because the first film was that good.

Black Panther 2 definitely won't make as much as the original but I'm not so sure about Captain Marvel 2, who knows which other Avengers will appear in it to help bolster the box office?

Iron Man and Cap are done after Endgame. Who else? Thor? Spiderman? Unless Brie's performance goes up 2000 notches in Endgame, I don't think so.

This prove that you can successfully shame men into paying for something. Maybe Wonder Woman would have made more money if it had stirred up controversy that men didn't want to see a female superhero. Expect to see more of this in the future. If you don't like this film or that film or don't pay to see it in IMAX then you're a sexist racist manbaby incel and watch all the idiots line up with their wallets open just to prove how woke they are and sending hours on line shaming other men for not liking the slop they are given.
I call this "The Gillette Strategy".

What is it with you unemployed retards and how other people (who actually work) choose to spend their money? Oh and you're WRONG! Wonder Woman held an all female showing for women ONLY in Arkansas when it was first released.

Ummm no, someone tried to do that. But men were allowed in because it would have been a very easy lawsuit against the cinema by any male that wasnt let in. And it was a marketing scheme by the cinema to get more people to come, it just back fired a bit when dudes actually bought tickets.

Oh and did I forget to mention the female Wonder Woman director being worshipped by the media as the second coming of Christ. Headlines such as FIRST FEMALE BLOCKBUSTER DIRECTOR, FIRST FEMALE BIG BUDGET MOVIE DIRECTOR, FIRST FEMALE SUPERHERO BLOCKBUSTER DIRECTOR, FIRST FEMALE SUPERHERO DIRECTOR OSCAR NOMINEE, FIRST SUPERHERO FEMALE LEAD RUMOURED FOR BEST ACTRESS. You guys have short memories. Where were you all in summer 2017?

You're wasting your time with OddRob, he's already said he'll never watch the film.
I guess that makes hating it easier for him.

Havent seen the film. But I found this online, dont know if its all true. -'showing these boys how to fly' flashback. -her mean father tells her to slow down and she dosent belong racing with boys. -evil male yelling at her in boot camp 'you're not strong enough' 'you'll never make it' -evil male telling her she will never fly 'do you know why they call it the cockpit?' -dude on bike says shes hot and should smile more. -Halloween pics of when they dressed up as feminist icons. -Maria getting mad for being called 'young lady' -Jude Law, white male cant be trusted. -'Im just a girl' starts playing as she beats some kree. -'I dont have to prove anything to anyone.' while standing over evil white man. -And not to mention the film itself is called a feminist film by Larson and the creators/media. Soooo looks like they put in plenty of feminist themes. Not to mention evil white males. Dont remember WW doing anything like that.
