Star-Lord's ridiculous tantrum and the overbearing score were the spit in the face I needed to realise that I don't like these movies. I went through the MCU and saw that I've only rated about a third of them as decent or good. That's a lot of mediocrity and garbage that I've wasted my time on. Well, it stops here. I'm not going to let you spit on me anymore, Disney. 👋
Compare this movie to Mad Max: Fury Road. It's very obvious which is the better movie. It's not this one ... I saw a trailer for an action movie from the 1980s today, and everything about that two-minute clip felt so much more real and impressive than anything in Avengers: Infinite Greenscreen. This capeshit is killing the art of cinema.

Fair enough. Sorry I can see how that is annoying. I cleaned up my posts a bit.
Anyway Damianracer explain to me what happened with Blade Runner 2049 then.

It had a built in fan base though. Shouldn't it not have been a risk at all? You claimed Mad Max was no risk for this exact reason. So? Just because something has a built in fan base does not guarantee it will do well at the box office. Blade Runner 2049 proves this point.

A lot of people seem to be missing the point that Starlord is half human, lost his mother, had to kill his father, lost his girlfriend and is also an emotionally stunted individual that has not really had the chance to develop as he has never really been around other human beings.
Also, him wanting to kill the guy who murdered his girlfriend (never mind the fact that it was someone who literally murdered his own adopted daughter) , is kind of reasonable.
I'm not going to be the last guy to make this comment, but...there are a lot of people out there who don't seem to get it.

And if we don't get it, it's 'cause the movies haven't properly conveyed it. Anyway, we shouldn't need to reference other movies to understand what happens in this one. If we do need to, that's proof that the movie is a bad movie.

I thought the movies conveyed the idea of him losing his girlfriend and then essentially ruining their plan through his emotions fine. I think some people just didn't like it or were expecting something else.
And, it's a movie that's been in the making for a long time. You'd have to see the previous movies to have an understanding of the characters and their motivations etc. You are essentially watching the last episode of a television show's cliffhanger before the next season begins....

I was agreeing with you until you said Mad Max: Fury Road was a good movie! :)
That and this one were both horrible, but I'm not sure which one is worse.

No need to spew hate just because everyone doesn't love the same movies that you do. Everyone is entitled to their opinion about the movie. The movie was CRAP. That doesn't mean the OP is a cretin, waste of air, or a pea brain. Those more likely describe someone who trash talks another person for posting an Honest Review or Opinion.

So Damienracer do you have a rebuttal? Why did Blade Runner 2049 flop? It had a built in audience. Shouldn't it not have been a risk at all?

Funny and you say I was the one who got salty someone enjoyed something I didn't. Now you show your maturity by saying personal insults. Not once did I ever insult your person. Way to keep it classy man. Someone got angry that they were proven wrong.

Honestly no. I simply wanted a diplomatic debate. That too much to ask?

So then that proves that just because you have a fan base it does not guarantee it will be a hit correct?
Also why was mad max nowhere near the hit something like the majority of the mcu films were?
You act as if it was a guarantee mad max would be a hit. When in all honesty it easily could have flopped. The fact that it only did decent financially proves my point.
Lackluster Harrison Ford? That was Ford's best acting in quite some time. I have to disagree there.

Mad Max may not be expansive but the fact remains it was a risk. If it blew up the box office you would have a case. The fact is it didn't. I know you dislike it, but don't let that cloud your judgement.
Harrison being Harrison proves what exactly? I personally loved Blade Runner 2049 and I loved him in it.

Not loyal enough to make it a massive hit though huh?
A movie doesn't have to be original in order to be considered great. It's not what it's about it's how it's about it as to quote Roger Ebert. Film is all about execution. Fury Road happened to be made with a lot of passion and good execution.
Harrison Ford gave a great performance in Blade Runner 2049. Try and make a point that you can elaborate on. Just saying something is bad isn't very convincing.

Quite the contrary. There are many quotes which were very potent and memorable. What a day what a lovely day! Witness me! Mediocre! Just a few examples of things which are remembered all throughout the internet.
Forgettable to you fine but you don't speak for everyone else.
