Discuss Avengers: Infinity War

Star-Lord's ridiculous tantrum and the overbearing score were the spit in the face I needed to realise that I don't like these movies. I went through the MCU and saw that I've only rated about a third of them as decent or good. That's a lot of mediocrity and garbage that I've wasted my time on. Well, it stops here. I'm not going to let you spit on me anymore, Disney. 👋

Compare this movie to Mad Max: Fury Road. It's very obvious which is the better movie. It's not this one ... I saw a trailer for an action movie from the 1980s today, and everything about that two-minute clip felt so much more real and impressive than anything in Avengers: Infinite Greenscreen. This capeshit is killing the art of cinema.

Wow... This really escalated or devolved 😉... I'm not really into internet board games, the troll culture, the homoerotic banter, etc... I understand it is part of the appeal for some people, the teasing, flirting by insult, etc... To each their own, but I'm not into internet culture so I tend not to participate in that aspect... No hard feelings 👍

I do enjoy discussing movies... I usually post on whatever movies I've seen recently. If there is no discussion topic I usually start a new one... Have had some interesting discussions here and have heard some divergent points of view.

TMDB's not as encyclopedic as IMDB was in terms of discussion topics, but the database is solid (i use it for my media server) and the discussions that do exist aren't as inane as on some of the other sites...

This thread makes me sad.... imdb forums closed down because people were rude and disrespectful. I love being able to talk about movies and shows that I like or dislike but and the end of the day respect should be number 1.

No need to be sad. Just block the bad bananas.

Yep. At least there only seem to be one or two idiots here. Maybe one + socks. You might find it best to put some people on Ignore.

You are absolutely correct. Sometimes, though, when I see someone who always nasty, disrespectful and contributes nothing to the discussion, I feel the need to troll the troll, so to speak. I realize that I'm only adding to the problem. You posters who can just brush it off are better people than me.

Wow so many things wrong in your latest arguement it's just ugh.First of all let's get this out of the way,"it's the most contempt Disney has shown for its audience since iron man 2"???????This is wrong in so many levels. One:Disney didn't make this movie Kevin feige and the Russo brothers did,Disney has put of course regulations to kevinnfeige like you can't kill this character or you can't curse but for the most part they let marvel(by marvel I mean Kevin feige)do their thing. Two:This is basically a love letter to every marvel fan and to the original "infinity" comic books of the 80s.I would argue that the movie handles thanos and the avengers in a much better way than the comic ever did.I believe that there is no marvel fan in the world that can watch this movie and be like that's disrespectful to the source material.Don't make yourself sound like a marvel fan cause it is extremely obvious that you are not.So because you are not a part of the marvel fandom you have no right to say that this movie is disrespectful to its audience and to the source material.Sorry if am being rude here but that was an insult for me.Now as for the green screen there are some moments in the movie that don't work but for the most part they do.You can't make an avengers movie without cgi especially at this time in the franchise. Also unlike per say transformers the cgi here is used excellently to make the battle every marvel fan has dreamed off for the last 4 years come true.Another thing you said I have to comment one is that the movie" falls apart when it turns its focus to thanos".That's actually infinity war's strongest plus because by focusing on thanos you get firstly a truly awesome villain the best in the entire franchise and you don't fall into the trap of having to focus on 70 heroes. That was a genius move by the russos.Lastly you said"it's a Disney marvel movie of course the villian doesn't win".I am sorry but how many Hollywood movies can you name out of the top of your head where the villain actually wins and the heroes lose.I highly doubt you can name five. But even though we know spider-man is going to come back the performances sold it so perfectly that it actually hurt to watch it.That's another plus to the Mcu cause if Spider-Man was swinging alone you would never get this moment. That's the correct way of using a franchise. It doesn't matter Spider-Man is gonna come back cause right now he is DEAD and we have to sit through that. This is the riskiest blockbuster of the past ten years. If you really thought thanos was going to win after avengers 4 is set and done then that's on you for being absolutely stupid. As for permenant deaths vision,Loki and Gamora are probably not coming back and I assure you that some of the main roster will die in avengers 4.Either cap or tony. To end this I want to say that a movie can't break you if you were indifferent to the franchise to begin with.I can understand someone being angry with Disney when it comes to Star Wars but when it comes to marvel no I don't get it.

I also wanna say to kutanamar that I also have movies i think are great in terms of stracture but I wouldn't put them in my favorite movies list.Like I think the pianist is excellent and it made me feel excactly what it intended but I would rather watch jumanji or the jungle book(the new one)a second time. The pianist doesn't crack my top 30 favorite movies but it cracks the top 10 movies I think are the best. For the record in terms of best no marvel movie cracks my top 10 so there is that.

Allow me to chime in. I saw Avengers Infinity War and enjoyed it. I am not in love with it like everyone else but I enjoyed it. I have to disagree when you say it is the riskiest blockbuster of the past ten years. The characters dying was handled well but we all know they are coming back. So what is so risky about that? Therefore I can't agree on that being one of the riskiest blockbusters in the last decade. A villain winning has happened many times before.

No Country For Old Men

The Usual Suspects

Seven

Silence of the Lambs

One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest

The Empire Strikes Back

Thanos while being a competent villain I do not think is the best. I find Killmonger to be much more compelling and interesting. Also if we expand to the small screen of the MCU I found Kingpin and Killgrave more interesting as well. Thing is what makes Mad Max Fury Road so good is that it's a simple story made so well. A movie does not have to have a deep story in order to be great. Execution is key. To quote Roger Ebert it is not what it's about it's how it's about it. Sometimes the most simple story can often make the best movies if executed right.

The thing about Mad Max being a risk is it is not a guaranteed financial hit. It takes a lot of stones to convince a studio give you that kind of money for a r rated action movie that has a niche audience. Not to mention a lot of that movie is done practically. The use of real cars and the stunt work really showcases how much blood and sweat went into that film. It also does not waste it's time with bogging itself down with tons of exposition like a lot of films are guilty of doing. It tells the story visually with little exposition. It is movies like that are why I go to the cinema. Would some call it overrated sure but I loved it. Along with Blade Runner 2049 that movie was a pure delight and amazing!

Blade Runner 2049 much like Mad Max utilized a lot of practical effects and relied very little on green screen. The issue with Marvel films is they rely heavily on that. Now I am no fool I know they need visual effects for the type of movie they are making but I think they could utilized practical effects more than they do. It is why MCU films never revolutionize certain aspects of film making. They make stuff that is sufficient or good but nothing exceptional. Blade Runner 2049 had revolutionary cinematography. I have yet to see an MCU film achieve such heights.

In short I love a lot of MCU movies they do have some gems but I personally like other MCU films better than Infinity War. These are my personal favorites I will rank them.

Guardians of the Galaxy 8.5/10

Iron Man 8.5/10

The Avengers 8/10

Captain America Winter Soldier 8/10

Captain America Civil War 7.5/10 I know I am in the minority with this ranking

Black Panther 9/10

Avengers Infinity War 8/10

Mad Max was a proven franchise in the past. Just because something has been a success in the past does not mean it will be a draw currently. When a studio puts over 140 million dollars into a flick you think they just want a decent profit? No they want an attractive dollar amount. Mad Max Fury Road while successful was nowhere near the success of a lot of comic book movies being put out today. That is why the production was so difficult. You know studios chomp at the bit to make a once r rated franchise pg-13 to make more money. George Miller did not want that so he fought for it. So your passive aggressive comment was not appreciated. You did not break my heart maybe you're lashing out because perhaps you do not enjoy the film? Which is fine if you don't but comments like the one you made are unnecessary.

Blade Runner has a loyal fanbase as well wouldn't you say? At the time of it's release it bombed but over the years it has gained quite the cult following. Did this help Blade Runner 2049? Nope as a matter of fact it was a massive box office disappointment. It is a shame because this is what makes studios not fund good movies. Here Blade Runner 2049 came it did not sell out and make it a generic sci-fi action flick, it still honored what the original was about and it did not get rewarded for it.

Also I did not think I needed to spell it out for you but I will. Empire Strikes Back was not the only blockbuster where the bad guy won. The Dark Knight could fit into this category as well.

Yep I guess so. Word of advice next time think before making a passive aggressive comment.

Quit while you're ahead. I've acknowledged your comment and politely disagreed with you unless you want a war. Or are you too brainless to know when you've been given an out??

A war? Over what? Flex those internet muscles some more. Someone gets easily triggered. You okay? Need someone to talk to?

Triggered? 😂 gotta love the internet.

Yeah we can agree on that. Someone tells you to handle something more civilized and you ask if someone wants a war. That had me dying from laughter. Got anymore things to say for my amusement? Or you done?

You made a post I replied not my fault if you see passive aggression everywhere you go... Do you not how a forum works??? Not everybody will agree with you... Can you handle that?

Where in my post did I say I cared that you disagreed? It was the way in which it was done was rather rude. Oh and certainly I can handle disagreements as a matter of fact I have made many friends on here from friendly debates I have had. I just found it funny how passive aggressive your comment was. I had to resist asking if you needed pepper to go with that salt. It is obvious you dislike Mad Max Fury Road which is fine I get it but it bled through into your comment. Subtlety helps my friend. Also learn how to take your emotion out of your opinion it will do wonders for you.

Are you angry that I dislike fury road? Would you like me to change my mind into liking it? I can if you want me to? Would that make you stop with the passive aggression crap?

No it makes no difference to me whether you like it or not. You're entitled to like and dislike whatever it is you please. I think you weren't counting on me responding the way I did. You probably assumed I would respond like an angry internet troll that you said something about a movie I liked. Nope I simply pointed how you saying it was no risk at all was not true. That is all.

No I genuinely feel fury road is overrated... I've felt this way for a long time. One armed Charlize Theron every cuck's wet dream.

Okay well personally I feel like Infinity War is overrated. Thing is I do not need to cast a generalization onto the people who hold it in high regard to make myself feel better like you. Sometimes people simply like a movie you don't.

I'm sensing some passive aggression here.

I know I learned it from someone on this board. You know the one who tried to flex his internet muscles.
