Discuss Avengers: Endgame

SPOILERS Why didn't they travel in time to kill Thanos, ages before. Like eg. Thor bloodthirstily axe his head off long long before he did nasty things.

Because they made it clear that it is not possible to change the future by altering the past.

You need to MODIFY your Spoiler posted TITLE, to REMOVE the actual SPOILER contained therein!

then how did cap turn into a hundred year old man at the end, if he didn't change the past? Didn't want to have kids, great grand kids? Didn't like sex, only sex with winter soldier?

I'm confused. I thought they did change the future by going back into the past, taking possession of the stones before Thannos could find the stones first. By doing that, they basically rewrote history.

No, they did not "get the stones before Thanos could", there was even a fairly lengthy discussion about why that wouldn't work, and they returned the stones to where they found them in order to ensure that Thanos WOULD get them.

Yes, this was expanded by Tilda Swinton's character. IIRC She explained to Banner that whatever is done differently in the past from their present will splinter into an alternate timeline. That is why they had to return the stones at that same point so that wouldn't happen.

They should've brought over past vision, and Alive, to the future since he's cheap to hire by Disney.

Frankly the Time Travel logic this movie was fidgety at best. Once they got all the infinity stones. Everything should have gone back to normal. But then the movie would have been hour long. And if they kill thanos as a baby it would only be 30 minutes. If there job was not to change the past. Then they broke that rule many times.

Sigh.....I know that this was a long movie filled with long scenes of complex dialogue which goes by so quickly that the details are easy to miss, but they totally did go into the 'get the Infinity Stones before Thanos' and the 'kill Thanos as a baby' theories and completely explained why neither would work, moreover, both Bruce Banner and The Ancient One fully explained that they didn't have to worry about not changing the past, because changing the past was IMPOSSIBLE. I know that this is easy to miss, but when it comes out on Blu Ray watch it again, this time with the closed captions on, and you will see that I am right.

I get they explained why wouldn't work. But it just seems like way to make the movie longer then if simple route of just getting the infinity stones. You can't have a Avenger movie without a huge battle at the end. Or they could make like the book and just battle get the infinity gantlet from thanos. Instead of a convoluted time travel story.

Except he will not get them because past Thanos dies in the future so how exactly is he going to find them and do the initial snap if he is dead? Movie makes no sense.

This is exactly why i don't want to think and reason more about Endgame. Let's just watch it for what it is. green_apple

In other words the plot makes no sense but hey who cares? It's Marvel so we have to eat it up no matter how shitty it is. Yeah no thank you.

Absolutely not. You got a choice :) And choices are what make us different and unique. Now think about this for a second, if everyone had 1 opinion then what fun would a debate or a forum be? It will be plain flat and boring. Hence, it's always good to find people with different opinions. This way we can interact , learn and understand what others perceive too.

The ending SUCKS on every level i know, but i'm gonna respect the Avengers line for what it is. Like i said earlier i WILL have this on Blu-Ray.

NOTE - Sometimes, just for the fun it i would tell you a movie is bad just because you call it good. I got this bug in my ass.

  • And I Am Iron-Man

I respect your opinion, enjoy watching it on Blu-Ray, I will not do the same however.

Thank you dear TMDb colleague and patron.

Godzilla is coming soon. And so are Mothra, Rodan and Ghidorah to give him some company.

He stayed with Peggy in the timeline he picked and aged naturally. After Peggy died he returned to the main timeline to give his friends there closure and to pass on his shield.

He didn't change his past; he created a new timeline where he and Peggy got to live out their lives together.
