I thought it was a very well done story in the noir fashion but the end was a bit too sloppily put together IMO. First off, why the fk would she go through the trouble of faking her own death by lopping off her arm only the set him up to the cops? That makes no fkn sense. They also didn't explain how she had those goons working for her who I thought was Falcone's goons. Yeah, there were a lot of problems with the story but Oldman's stellar performance and the overall gritty feel of the film in noir fashion do make the film worth seeing.
3 1/2 outta 5 stars.

Hadn't thought about this one in eons until you described the plot and mentioned Oldman, Naz. Initially believed you were referring to Romeo Must Die and were going to be the 10,000,000,000th viewer to bemoan Jet Li and Aaliyah not locking lips before the credits rolled.

Where did you find this post? I posted it under the Romeo Is Bleeding discussion forums so it should be obvious that this is the film I am talking about and not the Jet Li flick. Or does this post show up somewhere else on this web site? I am honestly asking and not being a smart ass.

Nevermind, I see where you found it. I didn't even know this site had that feature.

I have to say I didn't like the whole movie. There's suspension of disbelief and then there's this movie where you have a bunch of scenes tacked together with little logic or coherence in the story. I think the part about chopping off her arm was just the tip of the iceberg as far as ridiculousness and stupidity go in this movie. I love the part where he is going to jail and just blasts her away in the court house (where nobody except his old colleagues of course see it for some magical reason) in broad daylight. Yeah bro we were sending you to jail, but now that you blew her to smithereens we changed our mind and have this full pardon and medal for heroism.

Well, they kinda set that up. They wanted revenge on her for all the cops she had killed and they knew he would get goaded into reacting. The part that is REAL BS is that they were like, "Oh yeah, your past sins forgiven. No jail time for you." Now that WAS BS. Hero commendation? Maybe, but that don't mean you ain't going to jail for your crimes.

I thought it was a very good movie. But Lena Olin's performance alone makes it worth watching.
