Barbara Stanwyck was good... Sterling Hayden meh!

Barbara plays a strong independent woman who marries Hayden who's a cop. She gets bored with domestic bliss and tries to manipulate her husband's career because he's not as ambitious as she wants him to be.
Stanwyck's acting is as good as ever, Hayden as wooden as ever.

I'm with you about Hayden: Never have been a fan. Stanwyck, on the other hand, is always win win.

Sterling pretty much only works for me as a cartoonish figure. Stanwyck, on the other hand, was a tough broad who could act.
