Discuss Star Wars: The Last Jedi

They finished filming back in July and if it had kept it's original may release date they would have had 10 months in post production which is plenty of time. Even if they couldn't have had it done by may they definitely could have had it done by July or August at the latest. It would be a box office smash regardless of when it's released so it's really silly that they pushed it all the way to December.

There has been no talk of reshoots. It's possible that they may need to do additional filming, so this allows more time for that.

This is my first movie-related post on TMDB. Hi.

James Cameron has done Disney a huge favour by dragging out the production of Avatar 2,3, etc. Had he started work on the sequels a bit earlier we could have ended up with eps 8 and 9 vs Avatar 2 and 3. The ultimate winter sci-fi movie showdown! wink Even the mighty Disney may have baulked at that challenge and rescheduled eps 8 and 9 for summer.

I think of Star Wars movies as summer type releases. Seems more suited to the long warm days of the summer rather than the cold nights of winter.

If I'm being honest, I've pretty much lost all interest in Avatar. I don't think the sequels are going to make as much as they think.

Yeah he should have struck while the iron was hot with those.

Once the teaser trailer for Avatar 2 hits - I reckon interest will pick up. James Cameron does have a talent for making mega-popular movies so we shouldn't underestimate the appeal of Avatar 2 and the endless sequels (!) he plans to make.

This is what I always say. NEVER underestimate James Cameron. He has the TWO highest grossing movies of all time. Not just THE highest grossing movie of all time, but the TOP TWO. I agree about the trailer. Once people see the new incredible visuals Cameron comes up with, people will start to get interested again. It's not like we're going to stay on Pandora for all 5 movies, and if we do there must be tons of more cool stuff on that planet. I can't wait to see what other planets Cameron comes up with, or just new visuals in general. The guy is incredible at what he does.

Due to the long time for Avatar 2 and the sequels, I don't think they'll be in direct competition with Star Wars. Both franchises can be popular although I'm sure there will be lots of threads like this:

"Star Wars vs Avatar - which is better?"

wink
