Moon týraly talqylaý

...and it's excellent! How come I didn't know about it earlier?

Apparently, the Moon was filmed on a modest budget but this doesn't show at all. It certainly helps that the underlying idea for the story is freshly non-derivative. Sam Rockwell's performance is very realistic and believable: he's not of the battle-hardened superhero kind so many space exploration movies made us accustomed to, and it's this authenticity that helps us forge a bond with him as we become immersed in his struggles. The depiction of Sam's predicament and the solitude that comes with it is very pervasive.

Not less essential to this movie is the wonderfully versatile Kevin Spacey as the warm and dispassionate voice of Gerty, Sam's robotic companion. It takes a trip to the Moon to learn what it means to be human, and paradoxically the most important realization about it might come from the most unlikely of sources.

I was hesitant to watch the film when I read that a solitary man was on the moon talking to himself. But when I saw it had Sam Rockwell I figured it would be good. Spacey's voice was a good choice for the robot.

After watching this movie I have definitely decided against ever taking a blue collar job on the moon. It wouldn't take me long to start talking to myself anyway.

It's a very good movie and the practical effects work is stupendous. I had hoped Duncan Jones would distinguish himself a little more since its release, but I still remain hopeful that he'll do something like Moon again someday. Good, hard SF is hard to come by but cherished when it's done well.

Agreed, what an awesome film debut! I haven't seen any of his other movies but I'm guessing by the plot descriptions he chose to go more toward mainstream action/thriller stories. I think what made Moon so good was the heavy pace & lack of action, making you feel what it's like to be stranded on the moon for 3 years losing your grip of reality.

I'd also like to see Duncan do a similar Moon type movie, but I'm afraid he might be falling into the George Lucas trap. His debut THX-1138 was a masterpiece, but once he did Star Wars he never went back ...except to add flashy digital effects :/
