Discuss Inglourious Basterds

Bridget Von Hammersmark? The German movie star is working for England?

Yes, for the last two years now. One could say that Operation Kino was her brainchild.

Indeed.

Got the gist?

I think so, sir. Paris when it sizzles.

Paris When It Sizzles is a film from 1964 starring Audrey Hepburn and William Holden (Paris When It Sizzles). So this anachronistic joke inserted in the film is actually quite clever. At first, I thought Tarantino screwed up or that maybe the film was based on a book or play from before WWII (It isn't). But knowing his encyclopaediac knowledge of films I thought he had to have inserted that on purpose. He also did something similar in Django Unchained when the good Doctor Schultz exclaims, "Sold American!" after completing the transaction to purchase Django. That term is from a 1930s radio advertisement jingle for a tobacco company.

I, too, caught the reference - but not the deliberate error. Tarantino's good for those.

The title for the film was taken from a 1952 Cole Porter song, “I Love Paris.” Also anachronistic but closer in time period.
