You and rudely both added your 1940s favourites lists there at the time.
Gen, I know about that one but he went on to make individual lists for all of the 40's except 1940. I'm not sure if he's just too busy or maybe he just spaced?
Oh - now upon re-reading what you earlier wrote above, I do see you said "a 1940" rather than "a 1940s". My eyes played tricks on me. I apologize about that.

No need, my eyes aren't what they used to be either.
Morning rudely, I must be blind because I looked through several pages for your list. But now that it's all over what will I do with myself?
Lol well the end is in sight but we are not there yet... I was planning on going back as far as the early 1930s as I doubt I have seen enough good films pre-1930 to make a strong top ten.

My lists are usually in no particular order either, but in this case, this applies save for the top 2 ... hands down two of the all-time greatest movies I've ever seen.
The Little Foxes
The Maltese Falcon
Penny Serenade
Suspicion
Surprisingly, though I can come up with several "okay" films from 1941, I really can't think of any more I have seen that deserve a spot on the list. May come back and edit my list after having viewed more.
These are not the top, but are my personal favorites for 1941, in order:
Citizen Kane (a bit cold, but the technical artistry is unparalleled)
Dumbo (watched many times)
49th Parallel
The Maltese Falcon
How Green Was My Valley
Cheers for Miss Bishop
You'll Never Get Rich (Astaire and Hayworth, what a pair!)
Hold That Ghost (I love Abbott and Costello!)
Mr. and Mrs. Smith
Lady Be Good
Honorable Mention - Captain Marvel (the serial, still a lot of fun)

Hi, brat. During December I created the following thread for that purpose on the It's a Wonderful Life board:
